The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has officially confirmed the date of its Annual General Meeting (AGM), with the event set to take place on 27 February, with a line-up of keynote speakers from across the political and regulatory spectrum.

There will be key government figures scheduled to speak, including: Gambling Minister Baroness Twycross, Shadow Secretary of State Stuart Andrew MP and Gambling Commission CEO Andrew Rhodes.

The event will be centred around ‘making a difference’, with a focus on White Paper policies, economic growth and industry standards. It is set to be held in a central London venue, which is yet to be announced.

Registrations are open for the AGM 2025, with BGC CEO Grainne Hurst encouraging members to sign up quickly to secure their spot.

She said: “The BGC AGM is always a major highlight for our sector, and I am absolutely delighted to confirm such an outstanding line up of keynote speakers at this year’s AGM.

“I also want to say a huge thank you to Baroness Twycross, Stuart Andrew and Andrew Rhodes, for taking time out of their diaries to attend.

“On behalf of our members, and the tens of thousands of jobs they support, I want to say how much we value their vital engagement with industry.

“The Government has set out a bold mission to deliver growth, jobs and investment, and I know our members, championed by the BGC, have a critical role to play delivering on that challenge, across the UK.

“Our theme and strapline for this year’s AGM is ‘Making a Difference’, and as we move forward into a new era, post the publication of the White Paper, it could not be more fitting.

“After a long period of instability, we are looking forward to working with the Government to deliver the outstanding policies from the White Paper so our sector can get back to what it does best, making a positive difference for their millions of customers, and the UK economy.

“We have much to get on with, and the AGM is the perfect place to set the tone for the rest of the year. I encourage everyone to sign up soon, and I look forward to welcoming you to our AGM in February.”

The BGC, who represent 90% of the UK’s regulated betting and gambling sector, see the AGM as a chance to address the challenges the industry has faced in the post-White Paper era, and the opportunities they now have.

This announcement comes shortly after the BGC’s recent concerns with the Government’s approach to gambling reform. As, while backing the proposed mandatory levy and stake limits, they cautioned against yielding to anti-gambling advocacy without balanced measures, highlighting its members’ £170m contribution to supporting gambling-related harm since 2020.

The BGC have also stated that its members are proud to contribute £6.8bn to the economy, as well as generate £4bn in tax, providing 109,000 jobs.
