The Norwich-based game developer, Jelly Entertainment, has hired new CEO, Steven Matsell.

Matsell will replace previous the CEO, David Newstead, as Newstead takes on his new role of Chief Business Development Officer.

The UK game developer has recently had a C-Level shuffle and Matsell’s role conceals the move-around, as the company heads into 2025. The shuffle also includes Silvio Insigne being hired as CFO, Kim Eaglestone as COO and Salvador Lima being appointed as CCO.

Previously, Matsell worked as co-founder of White Coral Group - a legal iGaming advisory group - and before that he did a one year stint as Chief Commercial Officer at RAW iGaming.

Matsell began his career in iGaming almost 20 years ago, back in 2005, when he started out as a director at Playtech. After his time at Playtech he went on to work at Leander Games, as CEO, for a decade before it acquired RAW iGaming.

On succeeding Newstead, Matsell commented: “David has been key in building Jelly into what it is today. His determination and resilience have driven much of our success, and his move to Chief Business Development Officer will allow him to focus on his true strength – developing new business opportunities and nurturing international partnerships.”

Newstead stated: “It’s been an honour to watch Jelly grow into a globally recognised B2B supplier. Now feels like the right time to step aside and I’m confident the company is in great hands with Steven.”

Thanking Newstead, Matsell said: “David has been key in building Jelly into what it is today. His determination and resilience have driven much of our success, and his move to chief business development officer will allow him to focus on his true strength – developing new business opportunities and nurturing international partnerships.”
