Platipus Games Three Card Rummy gives a classic card game a casino twist

Platipus Gaming has launched the latest in its online table game series – Three Card Rummy. The title combines traditional elements of the classic card game rummy with some modern online casino twists. It joins other Platipus casino table games like Triple Strike Poker and Caribbean Club Poker. 

Traditional rummy was invented in the 19th Century, and the card game remains popular around the world today. But it is rarely played in casinos, with card games like blackjack and some variants of poker preferred.

In Platipus’s Three Card Rummy, the aim of the game is to score less than the dealer. Players choose their stake to buy into the game, and can place a bonus bet if they wish. Then, the dealer and players are dealt hands of three cards.

Hands are scored with aces being worth one point, number cards two through ten are worth their face value, and face cards are worth ten points each. Pairs, triples, and suited runs are worth zero, and because the aim of the game is to get as low a score as possible, zero is as good as it gets. 

After the hands are dealt, players calculate their score and decide whether to fold or raise. The dealer’s hand is then revealed. A score of over 20 means the dealer is bust. Otherwise, the player’s total is compared to the dealer’s total, and the lowest score wins.

For raise bets, wins are paid out at 1:1 for a score of 6 or higher, 2:1 for a score of 1 to 5, and 4:1 for a score of 0. 

Players who place a bonus bet also stand to win additional money for special hands. Hands that score lower than 13 pay out between 4:1 and 25:1, while a suited A, 2, 3 pays out an impressive 100:1.
