BAFTA 2025 odds: The Brutalist to win best film

The British Academy Film Awards, otherwise known as the BAFTAs, enters its 78th year and will be held on 16 February. David Tennant is returning to host after a successful debut year last year. Nominations are in for the annual awards, which means we can also see the latest odds.

Best actor

Adrien Brody is the slight favourite to take the best actor award for his role in the post-war drama The Brutalist. Brody is currently evens, according to Mr.Play, ahead of previous BAFTA winner and 2/1 second favourite Ralph Fiennes, for his role in the political thriller Conclave

Outside bets include Timothee Chalamet (7/2) for his part in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown and Hugh Grant (15/2) for his part in the horror Heretic

Other nominations are Sebastian Stan (18/1) for The Apprentice and Colman Domingo (66/1) for Sing Sing.

Best actress

The odds for who will take best actress are similarly tight with Demi Moore currently sitting at 6/5 to take her first BAFTA. She stars in the body horror film The Substance

Marianne Jean-Baptiste (2/1) will be hoping to pip Moore to the award for her part in Hard Truths, a comedy-drama film by writer and director Mike Leigh. Mikey Madison (3/1) is also in with a shout for her role in Palme d’Or winner Anora

Other nominations include Karla Sofia Gascon (17/2) for Emilia Perez, Saoirse Ronan (22/1) for The Outrun, and Cynthia Erivo (22/1) for her part in the hugely popular movie Wicked.

Best supporting actor

Kieran Culkin (1/5) is the clear favourite to pick up the best supporting actor BAFTA for his role in A Real Pain alongside Jesse Eisenberg. 

Guy Pearce and Edward Norton are both 8/1 outsiders for their spots in The Brutalist and A Complete Unknown. Yura Borisov (12/1) is nominated for Anora, along with Jeremy Strong (14/1) and Clarence Maclin (16/1) for The Apprentice and Sing Sing respectively.

Best supporting actress

For her role in Emilia Perez, Zoe Saldana is currently receiving odds of 1/4 to get the nod for best supporting actress, making her the clear favourite. There are outside chances for Isabella Rossellini (6/1) for Conclave

Ariana Grande is currently 9/1 for her role in Wicked, but the popularity of the movie set in the world of the Wizard of Oz means she can’t be ruled out completely. 

There are also nominations for Felicity Jones (16/1) in The Brutalist, Jamie Lee Curtis (16/1) in The Last Showgirl, and Selena Gomez (25/1) in Emilia Perez.

Best director

Brady Corbet leads the pack at 9/25 for directing The Brutalist. His chances may be determined by how well his movie does in the best film category, and whether Corbet picks up the award for his role. 

Sean Baker (5/1) is up for directing Anora with Edward Berger considered another outside shot by bookies. He is 11/2 for the movie Conclave

Other shouts include Jacques Audiard (12/1) for Emilia Perez, Coralie Fargeat (20/1) for The Substance, and Denis Villeneuve (40/1) for Dune: Part Two.

Unsurprisingly, considering the number of nominations for its cast and screenplay, and considering its three Golden Globe wins, The Brutalist is favourite for the best film category at 4/5. 

Political thriller Conclave is the second favourite at 7/5 with Emilia Perez at 11/2, Anora at 20/1, and A Complete Unknown considered a complete outsider at 40/1.

Outstanding British film

Conclave (1/5) is the clear favourite to pick up the outstanding British film BAFTA, heading a long list of contenders. 

Kneecap (8/1), is a fictionalised true story based on the Irish hip-hop band of the same name, known for rapping in their native Irish language. Other contenders include The Outrun and Gladiator II, as well as Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl, all at 20/1.

Best foreign film

Emilia Perez, about a Mexican drug cartel boss who wants to transition to being a woman, and which also has nominations for best actress and best supporting actress, is currently 3/10 for the win. 

I’m Still Here (4/1) is the second favourite while the Seed of the Sacred Fig and Kneecap are 15/2 and All We Imagine As Light is the 12/1 outsider.

Best original screenplay

The favourite to take this year’s best original screenplay award is the romantic comedy Anora (2/5) in which a Brooklyn woman marries an oligarch’s son, and her groom’s parents set out to have the marriage annulled. 

Although The Brutalist (5/1) is only the second favourite, it has received a lot of nominations that could sway the decision in its favour. A Real Pain and The Substance are both 15/2 shots while Kneecap is an outside bet at 12/1.

Best animated film

Things are a little tighter when it comes to the best animated film award. Flow is a heart-wrenching film about a solitary cat who escapes a flood after being forced to team up with other animals. It is the 9/10 favourite to take the award. 

The Wild Robot and Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl are 9/4 joint second favourites. Inside Out 2 makes up the final list at odds of 25/1.
