Kraken Casino has an exceptional list of games in its library. These include Sweet Bonanza, Big Bass Amazon Xtreme, Starlight Princess, Le Bandit and Crazy Time. 

While many online casinos still have restrictions on what games on available in your region, these are usually displayed in the library - the game thumbnails will be greyed out or there will be a warning before you even click on it. However, this wasn’t utelised at Kraken Casino, which meant that we had to physically click on each game to see if we could play it or not. 

For sports betting fans, there’s also a library filled with virtual sports to bet on, including football, fighting and racing. However, none of these were available in the UK either, which means that while there are technically sports available in the casino that won’t apply to UK users.

User experience and interface

The user experience is mixed at Kraken. The website makes it very easy to navigate and all of the links work at they should. The dark background makes it easy to look at and the collapsable menu has all of the important information available there. There’s also a toggle for Light and Dark mode, which is a great accessibility feature. 

However, not all of the features made for a positive experience for UK users. As we already explained, the library doesn’t make it obvious if the games are available in your jurisdiction or not. We understand that it can be offputting for users to see that a majority of games are unavailable in their location, but this is only a shallow victory. As soon as players actually try to play the games, they’ll feel duped that this library doesn’t warn them like the others. 

The site also continuously prompts you to spin the Lucky Wheel, but in order to unlock the wheel, you need to have wagered £150 on the site first, which made for a frustrating experience.

Mobile and app compatibility

Kraken Casino works nicely on mobile. Once you access it through your native mobile browser, you’ll get a similar experience as you did on desktop. This means you can access any of the games available in your region and manage the funds in your account. 

For players who want a more exclusive experience, you can download the Kraken app. Honestly, I felt silly when I was looking for the app, but it’s in the menu under ‘Application’ so make sure to look out for that if this is something you’re interested it. There is a VIP programme at Kraken Casino, but it’s a little awkward to find. If you go to the sidebar menu and go to Achievements. Once there, go to Ranks and you’ll find the VIP programme. 

The VIP programme at Kraken Casino is split into nine tiers, each accompanied by an increasingly intimidating pirate avatar image. As you progress through the ranks, you’ll unlock up to 7% in cashback, free spins and “secret prizes”. 

To enter into the first proper tier of the VIP programme, you need to reach a bets turnover amount of £150, and the next one after that is £500. The highest tier, known as Kraken Silver, demands a bets turnover amount of £10 million to access it, which we found quite steep.

Kraken Casino has a really good range of payment methods available for customers. Whether you want to deposit in fiat or crypto, it’s a very smooth and even process. There’s also the option to buy crypto at the site, although when we pressed this, it took us to a cashback minigame.

There’s also a long list of cryptocurrency coins available for both depositing and withdrawal at Kraken Casino, although you’ll have to confirm either your email or phone number before they’ll let you take any funds out of the platform.

Software providers

The list of software providers at Kraken Casino is undoubtedly impressive. The games come from names including, but not limited to, Evolution, Hacksaw Gaming, Nolimit City, Pragmatic Play and Endorphina. 

There’s a really nice touch at Kraken Casino, too. If you go to filter the games by providers, the list has how many games you can expect from each studio too. For example, Microgaming has 366 games available here, Spinomenal has 483 and TaDa Gaming has supplied 141.

Kraken Casino has made a very good start to its online casino platform. The library selection here is excellent and a lot of thought has gone into the gamification of different features. The range of payment methods also makes it accessible for many different audiences to sign up. 

However, once you’re in, there are just a few too many flaws which tarnish the customer experience. Whether it’s having to manually click on each game to see if it’s available in your jurisdiction, or realising that you’re locked out of those fun-looking features until you’ve turned over several hundred pounds of bets.

This is one of those platforms where if it works for you, then it’s got the potential to be a very fun experience. However, we have no idea how many potential players this could apply to.
