England vs Latvia tips and predictions: Three Lions to score plenty against leaky Latvia
England state of play
Thomas Tuchel began his England tenure with a not-so-convincing 2-0 win over Albania on Friday. Goals from debutant Myles Lewis-Skelly and Harry Kane meant England kicked off their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with three points.
Tuchel’s second match in-charge is another home tie, this time against Latvia. The new manager will be demanding an improved performance from his star-studded squad. So, expect changes from Friday’s game.

Latvia state of play
Latvia, like England, started their World Cup qualifying campaign with a Friday night win. Dario Sits came off the bench to score the only goal of the game against Andorra, a win that was just their third victory in 14 matches.
They now travel to Wembley to play an England team they have never met in competitive action. Paolo Nicolato’s team were relegated from Nations League C last year and are lacking in confidence.
Key talking point: Chance for Bowen and Eze to impress?
“Both of our wingers (Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden) that started were not as impactful as they can be or as they are in club football,” Tuchel stated after the game. That suggests changes to personnel as the new manager looks to learn about his squad.
One player who would have been expected to start is Anthony Gordon, however, the Newcastle man had to withdraw from the squad with a hip injury. That leaves Jarrod Bowen and Eberechi Eze as the only wingers left in the squad.
Therefore, could they get their chance from the start? Tuchel has already given debuts to Lewis-Skelly and Dan Burn. So, Bowen and Eze could be in line to be involved in some of the many goals England will score on Monday.
FIRST’s top tip for England v Latvia
Jarrod Bowen to score & assist at 4/1 (Betway)
The West Ham man came on for the last quarter of an hour against Albania but is likely to start this evening. Against a leaky Latvia defence, Bowen could be heavily involved.
Extra tip
England’s attacking options will be desperate to show the new manager what they’re capable of. Especially in a game against a team that have struggled defensively.
Latvia have kept just four clean sheets in the past 25 matches. In that run, they were beaten heavily at Croatia (5-0) and Turkey (4-0). They might struggle to keep the score down at Wembley this evening.
England over 4.5 goals 9/5 (Betway)
Team news
Anthony Gordon is the only withdrawal from the England squad since the Albania game. Everyone else is fit and available for selection.
Tuchel might use this match to look at some of his defensive options. Levi Colwill, Marc Guehi and Reece James will all be pushing to start.
For Latvia, Sits will be hoping his goal on Friday will earn him a start at Wembley.
