Euro 2025: England beat Netherlands 4-0 but still need result against Wales
After their dismal start, losing 2-1 to France, the Lionesses announced their intentions in Wednesday’s game against the Netherlands, comfortably winning 4-0. A place in the quarter-finals is not guaranteed after victory, but it is much more likely.

Before kick-off, England had seen their odds of winning the tournament drift from 7/2 out to 15/2. The nature of Wednesday’s emphatic victory, as well as the way the reigning champions responded to the disappointment of losing to France in their opening game, has seen their odds come back in.
Tournament Odds
England are now 9/2 to retain the trophy they won three years ago. They are still behind Spain and France in the bookmakers’ eyes, but are now priced ahead of Germany.

England vs Wales
As good as the victory was, however, England are not guaranteed to progress just yet. Sarina Wiegman’s team effectively need to beat Wales on Sunday to progress.
Wales, playing in their major international tournament, will be keen to pick up their first point after scoring their first goal, although the odds are firmly stacked against them. The Dragons have been given odds of 33/1 to beat the Lionesses, with a draw being priced at 14/1 and an England victory seemingly assured, at 1/18.

Netherlands vs France
Strictly speaking, England could still fail to qualify if they draw with Wales and the Netherlands beat France, but the odds are in England’s favour now.
France are considered favourites for the match with the Netherlands, having been given a price of 7/10 by Ladbrokes. A draw is the next most likely outcome at 29/10, while the Netherlands are 18/5 to grab the victory they require.

Spain vs Italy
Tournament favourites, Spain, have enjoyed an imperious start to the tournament, and cast a foreboding shadow ahead of the other teams. They saw off neighbours Portugal 5-0 in their opening match before dispatching Belgium 6-2 on Monday night.
In Group B, Spain are guaranteed to progress after their opening matches, while Belgium are out. Portugal can still qualify but they need to make up a considerable goal difference disadvantage while relying on Spain to beat Italy. Spain are 1/4 to beat the Italians while a draw has been given odds of 11/2 and a victory for Italy 9/1. Spain only need a point to top the group.

Result | Odds |
Italy win | 9/1 |
Draw | 11/2 |
Spain win | 1/4 |
If England finish as runners up of their group, they will face either Sweden or Germany in the quarter finals before taking on Norway or Group B’s runners up in the semi finals. If, however, they win the group, England would be in the other half and may have to face Spain.
