Paul Pogba next club odds: Shock Manchester United return on the cards
IMAGO
Paul Pogba is set to be back on a football pitch soon, after the end of his doping ban was brought forward to March 2025. But after leaving Juventus, where will he be making his return?
The France international was initially handed a four-year ban in March 2024 after testing positive for using a performance-enhancing drug called dehydroepiandrosterone, back in September 2023, when he was provisionally suspended. That has been reduced to an 18-month ban which ends in March 2025, with Pogba denying that he intentionally took the substance.
After agreeing with Juventus to terminate his contract, the midfielder now finds himself without a club, with plenty of teams circling around to pick up the free agent.
Understandably Inter Miami are the favourites, according to the best UK bookmakers, coming in at 7/4. This makes sense, with the MLS side, part-owned by David Beckham, already boasting a superstar squad containing Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets and always looking to add recognised names to the team.
It looks like Javier Mascherano’s side will miss out on Neymar, who is set to return to his hometown team Santos, freeing up the space to bring in Pogba.
There is plenty of talk regarding a return to where it all started for the midfielder, Manchester United (6/1), with the Frenchman posting a ‘cryptic’ Instagram story of him and current star player Amad Diallo. But there are plenty of questions regarding his ability to fit into the current system under Ruben Amorim.
Speaking of Portuguese managers, a reunion with Jose Mourinho could be on the cards at Fenerbahce (6/1), who he worked with at the Red Devils. Playing his football in Turkey would see Pogba treated like a megastar, and ease him back towards elite football in Europe.
However, he has previously described his relationship with the ‘Special One’ as having turned into a nightmare, which is something that may put him off working under him again.
Brazilian giants Corinthians (8/1) represent a left-field option that is clearly seen by bookmakers as plausible, after advertising platform Fatal Model stated that it would help the club financially in the deal to secure Pogba.
Interestingly the Frenchman has never played in Ligue 1, and a move to Marseille (10/1) would allow him to play in his home country.
Marseille are no strangers to controversial transfers, and in terms of French teams, they seem to be the front runners to bring the World Cup winner home.
LA Galaxy (16/1) and LAFC (20/1) represent other MLS options available to the midfielder, especially if he wants to move to California.
While a return to the Premier League with Fulham (16/1) seems unlikely, Marco Silva’s ability to revive Willian’s career may appeal to Pogba.
A move to Saudi Arabia may represent the strongest financial offer, with both Al Hilal (16/1) and Al-Nassr (20/1) providing an opportunity in the Middle East, if he would rather move out of the western spotlight and join the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Ivan Toney.
Odds are correct at time of writing.
