Carabao Cup betting tips: Quarter-finals preview
We’ve reached the quarter-final stage of the Carabao Cup and only Premier League teams remain in the competition.
Arsenal are narrow favourites to win the competition ahead of last season’s winners Liverpool. While Newcastle’s home draw helps explain why they are third in the betting. Whoever advances in the Tottenham and Manchester United tie will also fancy their chances of going all the way.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace betting tips
Arsenal have won their last four meetings with Crystal Palace by an aggregate scoreline of 12-1. The previous two clashes at the Emirates ended 5-0 and 4-1 respectively.
Having knocked Aston Villa out on their own patch in the previous round, the Eagles will not be too concerned about history. Mikel Arteta may also choose to rest some key players which could aid the visitors’ chances.
It’s impossible to look past a home win though. Six of the last seven games between these teams in north London have seen at least four goals, so expect to be entertained.
Scoreline prediction
Arsenal 3-1 Crystal Palace (11/1 with Matchbook)
FIRST’s top tip:
Arsenal win and over 2.5 goals (6/5 with bet365)
Newcastle vs Brentford betting tips
This match comes just 11 days after Brentford beat Newcastle 4-2 at the Gtech Stadium.
However, the Bees are currently the second-worst away team in the Premier League. They have also drawn one and lost three of their four visits to St James’ Park in the last eight years.
With Brentford likely to offer chances, Alexander Isak should take one. He scored in all three games he has played against them and has netted in eight of his last 11 matches for club and country. This run includes scoring against Chelsea in the previous round of the Carabao Cup.
Scoreline prediction
Newcastle 2-1 Brentford (13/2 with Mr.Play)
FIRST’s top tip:
Alexander Isak to score any time (21/20 with bet365)
Southampton vs Liverpool betting tips
These teams met at St Mary’s Stadium last month, with Liverpool needing a penalty to come from behind to win 3-2. The Reds won by the same scoreline away from home in the last round of this competition (at Brighton), which followed a 5-1 thumping of West Ham.
In short, expect goals. Arne Slot rotates in this competition so the Liverpool side will not be the most solid. With or without former manager Russell Martin, Southampton are guaranteed to cough up some good opportunities too.
Oh, and the meeting before last on the south coast ended 4-4 while the Reds won a League Cup clash there 6-1 in 2015. These teams generate chaos together.
Scoreline prediction
Southampton 1-3 Liverpool (9/1 with Boyle Sports)
FIRST’s top tip:
Over 3.5 goals (50/49 with Matchbook)
Tottenham vs Manchester United betting tips
Tottenham tore Manchester United to shreds at Old Trafford in October, winning 3-0. With how Spurs have played this season, the only surprise was that the Red Devils didn’t get a goal or two in return.
United opened the scoring in four of the five meetings before that. The exception – a 2-0 Tottenham win last year – saw them miss three big chances in a goalless first half.
With Spurs having gone behind at home this season to the likes of Brentford, Ipswich and West Ham, there’s every chance the visitors will score first. Whether they win is another matter, though they’ll be confident after their comeback victory in the Manchester derby on Sunday.
Scoreline prediction
Tottenham 2-2 Manchester United (83/10 with Mr.Play)
FIRST’s top tip:
Manchester United to score first (21/20 with Boyle Sports)
