Ted’s Treble: Tuesday's Southwell and Leicester betting tips and predictions
Ed Quigley is back with his best bets for the action on Tuesday, looking at Southwell and Leicester...
Delpotro - 2.30 Southwell (6/4 odds)
The penny appears to be dropping for DELPOTRO, who jumped for fun when resuming front-running tactics at Sedgefield last time out, and ultimately bolted up when getting the job done with Sean Bowen in the saddle for the first time.
A 7lb hike in the weights may not be enough to stop this 5-year-old who doesn't have as many miles on the clock as a few others here and still looks open to improvement in this sphere.
If Bowen can get Delpotro in a good rhythm once again at the head of affairs he could take some pegging back for the Charlie Longsdon team over track, trip and ground that should suit.
Jumping appears to be his trump-card, and if he brings his A-game to the table in that department then it would be far from a shock to see Sean Bowen in the winner's enclosure once again and enhance his relentless strike-rate which sees him operating at just under 30% over the last few weeks.
Do No Wrong - 3.00 Southwell (10/3 odds)
DO NO WRONG won this race 12 months ago, and looks primed for another big performance here with Brian Hughes taking over in the saddle.
The Justin Landy-trained nine-year-old absolutely dotted up in a point-to-point last month which should have lit the fires as his runner now returns to rules and fences.
Do No Wrong was last seen Chasing at Kelso in October of last year, and was travelling well and in the process of running a big race until he crashed out just as the race was beginning to heat up.
Everything looks in place for a big run, and this small-field scenario holds no fears and he shapes as though a mark of 113 shouldn't be beyond him.
The defection of Montregard from this encounter has weakened this race and Justin Landy's runner should be up to the task here of repeating the dose of last year and has to be feared in this company.
Commanding Prince - 4.47 Leicester (5/2 odds)
Only the seven due to go to post here, but this looks a competitive enough heat. COMMANDING PRINCE is an unexposed sort who should benefit from the drop back 7f for this assignment.
The Archie Watson trained representative has been beaten on his last two starts, where on both occasions he looked as though he was over-racing and failed to see out those races.
At Ayr last time out he was too keen in the early exchanges under first-time cheek-pieces and wilted late on.
Down in trip with the blinkers on for the first time, there is much more emphasis on speed on this occasion, and that should suit the four-year-old who gets to race off a mark of 82 once again.
Tom Marquand takes the ride, and this combination could take some stopping on quick ground which should really suit the selection.
Don't forget Ed will be back on Thursday as he serves up his best bets at Uttoxeter...
