Our columnist Ed Quigley has been firing in the winners, including a 12/1 stunner on Thursday. He is back once more with his best bets for Saturday's action...

Opportunity - 2.05 Goodwood

James Doyle is back after injury, and he gets on board the Wathnan Racing representative, OPPORTUNITY. This unexposed son of Frankel finished fourth on his debut last season, and then reappeared at Haydock last month on his seasonal bow when winning at Class 2 Novice event.

He may have only scrambled home by a neck to win - but the bare result doesn't tell the full story.

He looked green and in need of the run, which was totally understandable for one so inexperienced, but he showed a really willing attitude when push came to shove inside the hard yards and that performance can be upgraded in my view.

The collateral form looks fairly solid too, and he showed that he enjoyed the step up to this trip and the extra taxation on stamina that the contest provided.

The William Haggas runner looks a major force here and is the one I would like to side with in what should be an informative encounter.

Running Lion - 2.25 Haydock

If official ratings are anything to go by, then RUNNING LION has a bit up her sleeve, and she can make that class edge tell in this Listed assignment over the extended 10f.

A Group 2 winner at Royal Ascot last season, she went close at the highest level at Longchamp last season and could just have too much for her rivals here.

The comeback run at Newmarket was underwhelming to say the least as she failed to give her running, but she was entitled to need that run after 210 days off, and the John Gosden team are starting to hit top stride now.

Running Lion takes a big drop down in class to tackle inferior rivals, and if she brings her best to the table, I think she will quite simply be too good.

Symbol Of Honour - 2.25 Haydock

Charlie Appleby and William Buick team up for the Group 2 Sandy Lane Stakes, and they look to have leading claims here with the improving SYMBOL OF HONOUR.

The gelding has won three of his last four starts, including at Listed level two weeks ago, where seeing off the field in decisive fashion.

The only blip in his profile in recent times was on his penultimate start at Newmarket, where the combination of 7f and perhaps needing the run got the better of him and he weakened out of contention.

A fast 6f suits, and providing the ground stays on the quick side, he has every chance of notching another victory.

The Charlie Appleby yard are in sensational form, operating just shy of a 40% strike-rate for may, and that statistic can be enhanced here.

Don't forget Ed will be back next Saturday with his wise wagers for the day!
