Gambling Commission review Evolution Gaming's UK presence

The UK Gambling Commission are reviewing Evolution Gaming’s supplier licence in the UK, due to suspected black market activity.

It has been revealed that global online casino provider Evolution has breached section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005, following the supplier having been found to be providing casino games to the UK market through unregulated operators.

Speaking out, Evolution has confirmed that it is fully cooperating with the Commission and they have made their games unavailable on any unlicensed websites in the UK.

Following the announcement, shares in Evolution have dropped over 12%.

This isn’t the first time the supplier has been caught for providing its services to unlicensed operators either. The review also stated that Evolution was found providing its services to several operators based in Asia that provide their services to unlicensed casinos across Europe.

It is yet to be revealed what the outcome of this review will be but there can be a variety of possible outcomes ranging from a licence suspension, to a fine, or to no action being taken at all.

Evolution CEO Martin Carlesund commented: “Evolution embraces the objectives of the review by the Commission. We are committed to supporting the licensed UK market as well as preventing unlicensed traffic.  We are now taking forceful action using all technical tools available to us to ensure that our games only are available in the UK through Commission licensed operators.

“We believe that a close collaboration to address our joint concerns will lead to swifter and better results. As always we remain committed to an open and transparent relationship with our regulators.”
