Flutter’s UK and Irish staff kickstart charity campaign

Flutter’s UK staff are aiming to raise over £375,000 for Pancreatic Cancer UK, in memory of Sky Betting and Gaming employee James Blackburn, who passed away following a pancreatic cancer diagnosis in 2023.

The staff totals to over 5,000 people across multiple different brands, including Sky Betting & Gaming, Paddy Power and Betfair, and look to fundraise for different charities each year.

In 2024, the operator’s staff donated £375,000 to Cure Leukaemia and are aiming to raise even more this year.

Over in Dublin, staff are raising funds for the National Maternity Hospital Foundation, with the aims to aid funding for research, innovation and excellence in women’s and neonatal health.

In the last two years, they have managed to raise €700,000 for BUMBLEance, the Children’s Ambulance Service of Ireland, and Spinal Injuries Ireland.

Speaking on the partnership with Pancreatic Cancer UK, Sky Betting & Gaming, tombola and Trading CCO Steve Birch said: “We were overwhelmed by the number of nominations for Pancreatic Cancer UK, and continue to be inspired by the passion colleagues have shown in their efforts to raise awareness and support this charity.

“It is clear this year-long partnership will continue to hold a special place in our hearts as we remember those touched by this brutal disease every step of the way.”

On its partnership with the National Maternity Hospital Foundation, Flutter Chief Executive for UK & Ireland Kevin Harrington added: “Many Flutter employees have a personal connection to The National Maternity Hospital - whether they were born there themselves, have had a baby there, or know someone who has received care at The National Maternity Hospital, so raising funds for its Foundation is a cause close to everyone's hearts.

“We have almost over 1,500 people working out of our Dublin office and their motivation to engage with the regular fundraising efforts for this Foundation is something I’m really proud to witness personally, and it’s something I hope our colleagues take huge pride in too.”

Both campaigns align with Flutter’s overall goal to ‘Do More’ in their communities, having set the goal to improve 10m people’s lives by 2030. They intend to achieve this goal by focusing on three specific areas, which are: Sport & Play, Tech4Good and Health & Wellbeing.

During the Darts World Championship in 2024, Paddy Power, a Flutter brand, donated £1m to Prostate Cancer UK, through their BIG 180 campaign, where they pledged to give £1000 for every 180 scored.

A record 914 were hit, totalling £914,000 and that figure was rounded up the operator, boosting it with £86,000.

For the 2025 championships, they will be continuing that pledge, alongside an additional £60,000 for any nine-dart finishes.

They will also be backed by Sir Chris Hoy, who is on board as the charity ambassador and is currently dealing with stage four prostate cancer.
