Without further ado, it’s tiiiiiiime…to run through Ladbrokes’ odds for the UK Christmas number one.

Wham! (8/11)

Ever-present on the festive UK charts, Wham! earned a second successive number one title in 2024 – fending off competition from Gracie Abrams and Mariah Carey with romantic ballad, Last Christmas.

That win marked the first time a song took consecutive first-place finishes, and 2025 presents an opportunity to cement Wham!’s already watertight Christmas legacy.

Now firmly leading Ladbrokes’ odds (8/11), the late George Michael and 62-year-old Andrew Ridgeley are on course for a historic result.

Kylie Minogue (5/1)

Australian singer-songwriter Kylie Minogue is set to compete for the UK Christmas number one with an expanded re-release of her 2015 album, Kylie Christmas (Fully Wrapped).

Four new releases are on the docket in this compilation of seasonal songs: Hot in December, Office Party, This Time of Year and XMAS – the latter being the most likely competitor for the ‘Princess of Pop’.

At 5/1, Kylie is second in line to knock Wham! off their perch.

Ed Sheeran (5/1)

The man behind two festive number ones in 2017’s Perfect and 2021’s joint Sausage Rolls for Everyone effort with Ladbaby returns for a third attempt to achieve a UK Christmas chart topper.

For the time being, Ed Sheeran sits in the charts with Camera – but Britons should expect the 34-year-old’s reliable hits to re-enter the fray as the big day edges closer. An Elton John collaboration, Merry Christmas, and 2024 smash-hit Under the Tree stand as his probable high-ranking singles.

And, given the UK’s unwavering commitment to Sheeran during the Christmas period, Ladbrokes’ 5/1 odds are more than justified.

LadBaby (10/1)

They might not be releasing a sausage roll-themed anthem in 2025, but that won’t stop the public from eating up LadBaby’s five hearty singles.

Made up of couple Max and Roxanne Hoyle, the pair won the nation’s hearts five years on the bounce – snagging a Christmas number one from 2018 until 2022.

Could 2025 showcase Britain’s hunger for more pastry-laden bangers? At 10/1, Ladbrokes place LadBaby among the favourites.

Mariah Carey (12/1)

Mariah (12/1) is adequately defrosted at this point of the year – and, despite her annual claim that she only wants me, the ‘Songbird Supreme’ likely has her sights set on an inaugural UK Christmas number one.

All I Want for Christmas is You earns a competitive spot on the domestic charts virtually every year, and with limited new releases from stalwart favourites, this could be Mariah Carey’s moment.
