Brentford next permanent manager odds: Assistant coach Justin Cochrane leads odds

Brentford manager Thomas Frank is tipped to take over as the new Spurs manager following Ange Postecoglou’s departure - which would leave the Bees with a head coach vacancy.

Frank has overseen Brentford’s rise from middling Championship hopefuls to one of the Premier League’s brightest outfits - with four successive seasons in England’s top flight now in the 51-year-old’s pocket.

Having led Brentford since 2018, his leaving would herald a significant shake-up at the Gtech Community Stadium. For that reason, BetVictor anticipate Frank’s successor to be someone already close to home…

Justin Cochrane – 4/7

Cochrane may stand as an unknown entity in the wider footballing world, but the former professional footballer boasts an impressive track record at an elite coaching level.

He has served as one of Thomas Frank’s assistant coaches at Brentford since 2022, helping to lead the west London side to two top-half finishes. 

In addition to his assistant role on a club level, Cochrane works within Thomas Tuchel’s new England setup. 

At 4/7, the 43-year-old is BetVictor’s favourite to replace Frank at Brentford. However, his previous endeavours with Spurs - for whom he coached youth teams - could persuade Cochrane to join his boss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ipswich Town have enjoyed a mostly steady upward trajectory under McKenna’s leadership, as the Northern Ireland native took the Suffolk side from League One to the Premier League within two-and-a-half seasons.

Despite suffering immediate relegation from the Premier League in 2024/25, Ipswich did not go down with a whimper. Kieran McKenna instilled a clear desire to play brave, attacking football - a facet that would be appreciated by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Considering his newfound Premier League experience and positive style of play, BetVictor’s 7/2 could be good value for money for him to go to Brentford. 

Kjetil Knutsen – 8/1

Norway has stood at the centre of European football over the last half-decade, as the likes of Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard take England’s first division by storm. 

Kjetil Knutsen is another talent stemming from the Nordic nation – the 56-year-old has brought Bodo/Glimt on remarkable annual European ventures since 2021. 

The most recent of these came in the form of a Europa League semi-final clash with Tottenham. Although the affair ended in defeat, Knutsen’s men outlined why the longstanding manager is in contention for the Brentford job.

Danny Rohl – 8/1

Current Sheffield Wednesday manager, Danny Rohl, is among BetVictor’s favourites to fill Thomas Frank’s position in 2025/26. 

Just 36 years old, the young coach has taken Wednesday from relegation battlers to a solidified Championship stalwart. 

Whether his limited experience will impress Brentford’s board to the extent that he will make the final shortlist remains to be seen – but there is value to be had from BetVictor’s 8/1 price for this selection. 

Michael Carrick – 12/1

Recently sacked by Middlesbrough in the wake of a third failed attempt to earn Premier League promotion, Michael Carrick is now a free agent. 

The former Manchester United man would therefore not need to be bought out of an existing contract – which could attract Brentford should the club opt to hunt for affordable candidates.
