The Flutter Charity Ball was held at the Royal Armouries at New Dock Hall in Leeds and the event - on its own - raised £282,000. In the run up the event, Flutter successfully raised £75,000, bringing the total to £357,000.
The £357,000 was raised throughout the year, for Cure Leukaemia, through various fundraisers, storytelling and most of the charity funds were raised at this year’s Flutter Charity Ball.
Flutter’s global positive impact plan aims to improve 10 million lives by 2023 and their fundraising for Cure Leukaemia is part of that initiative.
Cure Leukaemia is a charity that raises funds for research into the disease as well as running clinical trials to find cures for this life-impacting disease.
The Flutter Charity Ball featured stories from survivors and those affected by blood cancer with appearances from sports celebrities, charity ambassadors and regular punters. Guests also had entertainment to enjoy which included a darts competition against PDC World Darts tour professional, Joe Culle.
This donation will go towards the ATICUS Network, a company providing access to innovative treatments for leukaemia patients across 15 hospitals across the UK; including Manchester, London and Leeds.
ITV racing presenters Oli Bell and Ed Chamberlin hosted the event and brand ambassadors such as the son of Gary Lineker, George were present to tell their stories.
ATICUS Network ambassador George Lineker, son of former England footballer and Cure Leukaemia patron Gary Lineker OBE, commented: “I was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia as a two-month-old baby. I still cannot imagine how my family must have felt being told their child had a 10-20% chance of survival. But I was one of the lucky ones. Funds raised for Cure Leukaemia could ultimately help change the fate of so many who might otherwise not be as fortunate.”
