Hull City next permanent manager betting odds: Miron Muslic leads the way to replace Ruben Selles

Hull narrowly escaped relegation on the final day of the 2024/25 Championship season — fending off Luton Town on goal difference — but the side’s last-ditch rescue mission was not enough to save Ruben Selles’ job.

Now, owner Acun Ilicali must hunt for a third manager in 12 months. Renowned for chopping and changing dressing room affairs, the Turkish entrepreneur has axed five head coaches since taking over in just 2022.

With Hull on the cusp of a make-or-break campaign and fans eager for a summer revamp, this stands as The Tigers’ most important hire in several years. Here, you’ll catch a rundown of the favourites to lead next year’s team at The MKM Stadium, with odds by way of BetVictor.

Miron Muslic – 8/11

Plymouth Argyle manager, Miron Muslic, arrived at Home Park in January of this year. The 42-year-old accepted a near-impossible task to maintain the south-west outfit’s stature as a Championship club - though notable F.A. Cup victories over Brentford and Liverpool provided much-needed respite following a horrendous run in 2024.

Having proven himself capable of achieving solid results with a lacklustre squad - and only succumbing to relegation by three points - Muslic stands as BetVictor’s favourite to replace Selles at Hull.

Albert Riera – 1/1

Former Manchester City and Liverpool attacker, Albert Riera, is 1/1 to return to English football following the Spaniard’s impressive end-of-season run at the helm of Slovenian outfit, NK Celje.

Previous managerial experience at Bordeaux would benefit Riera upon a return to European football - and the 43-year-old boasts recent outings in the UEFA Conference League, to boot.

Interestingly, Ilicali has this week hinted that an unexpected arrival may enter the fray, saying: “I don’t think he (the next manager) will be one that you have heard of.”

With Rieria being a relative unknown in England’s managerial scene, could the ex-left-winger be Hull’s mystery man?

Emre Belozoglu – 5/1

Rumours that Belozoglu might test his managerial prowess outside Turkey for the first time arose last week – with the former Premier League midfielder currently presiding over a fourth role in his homeland’s domestic league.

Despite being earmarked as a favourite for the post, 44-year-old Belozoglu saw his BetVictor odds plummet in the wake of links to Riera and Muslic. On the flip side, Hull’s owner outlined that he has spoken to this particular candidate: “I believe all the managers we are talking to are very good managers. I think Emre is a top manager.”

Michael Beale – 8/1

Without a club since February 2024, attaining Beale would prove a cost-free endeavour for Hull – potentially enticing Ilicali to hone in on the former Sunderland, Rangers and QPR manager.

Hull’s outspoken owner namedropped Beale to reporters while discussing the club’s latest maneuvers, confirming that an interview had taken place with the 44-year-old: “Michael Beale, when you speak to him, you understand that he knows so much about the game.”

Tony Mowbray – 8/1

61-year-old Mowbray has been around the block – leading the charge at nine different British clubs during a multi-decade career. His most recent venture came to a close in April, as West Brom ended his second stint with The Baggies off the back of one win in eight vital fixtures.

Mowbray’s extensive understanding of English football could provide essential balance to a rocky Hull side.
