Man Utd next manager odds: Allegri emerges as favourite to replace Amorim following final defeat
After failing to win the Europa League, it has been nothing short of a disaster for Ruben Amorim since joining Manchester United in November.
Sat 16th in the league, and with no European football for next season, the Red Devils have reached the lowest point of their modern history, and serious doubts are starting to emerge over Amorim’s future.

After impressing at Sporting Lisbon, the Portuguese manager was expected to help United push towards the European places after a poor start to the season under Erik Ten Hag.
However, it has gone the other way for him, and his side have emerged as one the poorest pound-for-pound Premier League teams in history.
Unlike Ange Postecoglu at Spurs, Amorim does not have a trophy to fall back on, and the first six months may have led to Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co to lose trust in the process.
A decision will need to be made, as United’s reluctance to sack Ten Hag may have played a part in their awful season, so they may see an opportunity to learn from previous mistakes.
If the Red Devils are to switch, then it is Massimiliano Allegri who sits as favourite for the position at Old Trafford, at 4/1 via BetVictor.
The Italian has proven to be a serial winner in his home country, although he is coming off the back of a poor second stint at Juventus, where he failed to win the Serie A, although he did earn a Coppa Italia in that time.
He was sacked following an incident directly after that final, where he was alleged to have attacked the referees, threatened journalists and argued with sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.
Allegri would have a rebuilding job on his hands, but his career has shown an ability to be successful which is something United need at this point.
Oliver Glasner (6/1) has seen his stock rise even more following Crystal Palace’s FA Cup win and would see a more defensive style at Old Trafford.
Gareth Southgate (7/1) was former Director of Football Dan Ashworth’s selection to replace Ten Hag, and one of the many decisions the club went against, leading to the Englishman’s resignation earlier in the season.
It would not have been a popular appointment with fans, with Southgate known to favour a defensive style, but his ability to build a team and bring them together might help the United dressing room.
Another name that is consistently linked with the Manchester United job is Mauricio Pochettino (8/1), and it may be time for the club to bite the bullet on the Argentine, after he did a good job rebuilding Chelsea despite all the turmoil that surrounded them.
Thomas Frank (10/1) has established himself as a top Premier League manager and is deserving of a move to a top-six side, but he may feel that the Brentford job is on that same level of the United position.
Kieran McKenna (10/1) could be reunited with his former team, but it is probably too soon for the Irishman to take a role of that magnitude.
Zinedine Zidane and Indoni Araola (12/1) both represent different options, with the latter in a similar position to Frank, in that his current role may be more attractive than the position at Old Trafford.
The former has been linked with the United job for a number of years, but it is unlikely that his first role outside of the Galacticos will be with the 17th best team in the Premier League.
