Next Premier League manager to be sacked odds: Silva on thin ice? Farke, Howe and Parker in spotlight

Next Premier League manager to be sacked odds | Sack race latest

IMAGO

In the midst of the international break, there has not been another Premier League managerial casualty… yet. In the world of football, a manager may just wake up one morning to have received their P45 in the post.

In the Championship second-placed Middlesbrough are on the hunt for a new boss, but stick around here as we run through the updated favourites for the next Premier League manager to leave market.

Marco Silva – Fulham

Fulham owner Shahid Khan has previously stated that Marco Silva is part of the long-term plans at the club. Even so, Silva is out of contract at the end of the season while talks over a new deal have so far stalled. In addition, the Whites are on a poor run of form.

Indeed, they have lost five of their last six league matches following a 2-0 defeat at Everton prior to the international break.

The only victory in that run came against basement boys Wolves. With uncertainty surrounding his future combined with a downturn in form, Silva is now the 6/4 favourite to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked.

Daniel Farke – Leeds

Leeds were resoundingly beaten at Nottingham Forest in the final round of league games prior to the international break.

The Yorkshire side went ahead through Lukas Nmecha, yet were pegged back quickly in an eventual 3-1 loss at the City Ground. The result means the Whites have failed to win five of their last six, losing four times in that run.

And things don’t get much easier for Leeds and head coach Daniel Farke once domestic football returns next week. Farke’s side face Aston Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool in the next four gameweeks.

While results against the Premier League heavy hitters should not weigh against the German, he is still at 13/8 to leave Elland Road. That price will only shorten further if Leeds return to action poorly.

Eddie Howe – Newcastle

Surprisingly, Eddie Howe has shortened into 8/1 to be the next Premier League manager to leave.

Howe has overseen seven wins from Newcastle’s last 11 matches, including commendable Champions League triumphs over Union St.Gilloise, Benfica and Athletic Club.

However, the league form is a concern. The four defeats in that 11-game streak came in England’s top tier with the Magpies now just two points above the relegation zone. The form on the road is also a worry.

Newcastle are one of four sides yet to win an away league match this season. The home game against in-form Manchester City next weekend is hardly ideal.

Scott Parker – Burnley

Still knocking around in the top five, Scott Parker’s Burnley will be nervously looking over their shoulder in the coming weeks.

As Nottingham Forest and West Ham struggled in early months, the Clarets were able to keep their head above water. However, both Forest and the Hammers, who beat Burnley last time out, look to have got their act together.

As such, Burnley are now outside of the relegation zone on goal difference only, second in the running for relegation. Forest sit just one point behind Parker’s side, and the welcome of in-form Chelsea next weekend isn’t what the newly-promoted outfit will have wanted.

Even so, Parker has drifted to 10/1, with William Hill to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked. Recent back-to-back wins over Leeds and Wolves will have bought the 45-year-old some breathing space. Defeats in the foreseeable future should see that price shorten.

David Moyes – Everton

The return of the ‘Moyesiah’ earlier this year gave Everton the boost they needed to stave off relegation. And the Toffees haven’t exactly started the season poorly. David Moyes’ side sit 13th in the Premier League having recently returned to winning ways at Fulham’s expense.

Victory over the Whites ended a three-game winless run, yet even so; 13th feels about right for Everton.

That, though, hasn’t stopped Moyes from shortening into 16/1 to be axed. While it’s unlikely that Everton will pull the trigger on the Scot at this stage of the season, they could do with putting some points on the board ahead of a testing festive run.
