Next Premier League Manager to be sacked odds: Hopeless Amorim set for Man Utd exit?

First Nuno bit the bullet as the first Premier League manager to leave his post this season. Then, on Saturday morning, Graham Potter was relieved of his duties as West Ham head coach. As fate would have it, Nuno was quickly appointed as the 50-year-old’s successor in east London.
A manager can so often be just one game away from the boot and with an ever-changing landscape, the odds on the next manager to be sacked market changes on an almost-weekly basis.
With that, we run through the updated favourites to be the next Premier League manager to face the axe.

Ruben Amorim – Manchester United
I mean… is this really a surprise? Manchester United just cannot buy a win at present. They are still yet to win back-to-back league matches since Ruben Amorim succeeded Erik ten Hag as United boss last November and a 3-1 loss at Brentford only increases the pressure on the club to sack the Portuguese boss.
With a refusal to move away from the 3-4-3 setup, which is clearly not working at Old Trafford, it’s surely only a matter of time before Amorim is shown the door, with a host of replacements already being touted. United have reportedly drawn up a three-man shortlist of candidates to replace Amorim, who is now the 8/13 favourite to be the next Premier League manager sacked.
Ange Postecoglou – Nottingham Forest
Ange Postecoglou has been at the Nottingham Forest helm for less than a month, and he’s already the second favourite to be the next manager to be sacked at 6/1 with BetVictor. It’s fair to say that Big Ange’s opening weeks at the City Ground helm haven’t quite gone according to plan.
Granted, he was dealt a tough opening hand as he took his Forest side to Arsenal, but he’s failed to win all five Tricky Trees matches he’s overseen, including a 3-2 loss at Swansea having been two goals to the good until the 68th minute. Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat to Sunderland won’t have helped the Australian’s cause and he needs positive results in the coming days against FC Midtjylland and Newcastle to ease worries that, just maybe… Forest have made a huge mistake.

Unai Emery – Aston Villa
After the midweek 1-0 win over Bologna, Aston Villa claimed their first league victory of the season on Sunday as goals from Ollie Watkins, John McGinn and Emiliano Buendia saw the Villans ease to home success at Fulham’s expense. The 3-1 triumph would have lifted a huge weight off Unai Emery’s shoulders.
The Spaniard’s magic looked to be running low in the opening weeks of the season as Villa struggled, labouring to draws with Newcastle, Everton and Sunderland, while falling to defeat to Brentford - twice - and Crystal Palace. Monchi’s exit and the subsequent appointment of Roberto Olabe as sporting director supposedly strengthens Emery’s position at Villa Park, yet he remains at 8/1 to be the next top-flight manager sacked.

Keith Andrews – Brentford
Despite Thomas Frank’s switch to Tottenham, combined with the departures of Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa to Manchester United and Newcastle, respectively, Brentford have started the season relatively well. Victory over United on Saturday may have just their second in the league this season, but few gave the Bees a chance of survival under Keith Andrews.
Saying that, they need to improve their away form. All seven of Brentford’s points have come at the Gtech Community Stadium, and they are, along with Burnley, one of two teams to have lost their opening three away league matches. Andrews is inexperienced in football management, which goes some way to explaining why he is at 10/1 to be the next Premier League manager to leave their post.

Enzo Maresca – Chelsea
Club World Cup success should have provided the perfect foundation for Chelsea. The win over PSG in July seems a long time ago now. Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat to Brighton means the Blues have won only three of their opening eight games of the season. One of those was against League One side Lincoln.
Chelsea are a team that has spent big in recent years, and demanding owners will want to nib a downturn in fortunes in the bud sooner rather than later. While Enzo Maresca isn’t under immediate pressure to turn the club’s fortunes around, he faces a big week ahead of the international break as the Blues take on Benfica in the Champions League and Liverpool this coming weekend.
Maresca is currently at 12/1 to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked, but if he’s unable to turn the results around, those will surely shorten in the coming days.
