Jamie Vardy next club odds: Scottish giants battle to sign veteran striker

It has almost been three months since Jamie Vardy announced that he would depart Leicester City.

The 38-year-old is yet to put pen to paper with any club – despite strong interest from Scotland, Spain and Italy.

While the veteran striker is expected to have ample potential suitors throughout the transfer window, Genoa boss Patrick Vieira reportedly blocked a move for Vardy earlier this month.

This has opened the door for several teams to ramp up efforts for the former Leicester man.

Rangers – 4/6 (Ladbrokes)

Rangers’ title charge was significantly hampered by the side’s 33 goal deficit to Celtic – who won a 55th Scottish Premiership title in 2024/25.

While the potential acquisition of Vardy (4/6, Ladbrokes) is unlikely to sway that significant shortfall, the experienced attacker would serve as an excellent option from the bench.

With that said, the inarguable quality gap between the Premier League and Scotland’s top flight may allow Vardy to earn more on-field minutes compared to England.

Moreover, one of the forward’s prevailing strengths within Vardy’s repertoire is an ability to perform away from home. Rangers endured a difficult campaign on the road last time out — dropping points in 11 outings — and would stand to benefit from his prowess in tight fixtures.

Celtic – 4/1 (Ladbrokes)

Despite odds (4/1, Ladbrokes) that suggest otherwise, a switch to Scotland’s reigning champions is unlikely…but not impossible.

Much of the discussion surrounding a transfer to Celtic stems from an interview with former player Frank McAvennie, who encouraged his ex-team to “get him (Vardy) up here.”

In May, rumours of a proposal from the Bhoys suggested both parties were on the cusp of agreeing terms. However, those whispers fell wide of the mark.

Nevertheless, Vardy would fit into Brendan Rodgers’ side, and the pair previously worked together at the King Power Stadium.

Kasper Schmeichel also plies his trade for Celtic – so relations with club figureheads are warm.

Nottingham Forest – 7/1 (Coral)

It is well understood that Jamie Vardy’s preference is to remain in the Premier League. He is more familiar with the division than most of his peers, having spent 10 of his 13 seasons with Leicester in England’s top flight.

Although the arrival of Vardy would add depth and experience to Nottingham Forest’s front line, it is his similarity to first-choice striker Chris Wood that stands out most.

Both share proficient positional awareness whilst in the opposition’s penalty area, as well as an innate propensity to punish defensive errors.

This one comes in at 7/1 with Coral – but a bet on Vardy to Nottingham Forest makes much more sense than these odds indicate.

Where else might Vardy go?

After a transfer to Genoa was struck down by Patrick Vieira, Como, another Italian side, entered the picture. Managed by Cesc Fabregas, the team comprises other ageing players who have performed at a high level – such as Alberto Moreno and Sergi Roberto.

You can bet on Vardy to join any Serie A club at 5/1 with Ladbrokes.

Everton (7/1, Coral) and Manchester United (10/1, Ladbrokes) have also been mooted. In fact, media reports claim that the Red Devils have presented a package for the 200-goal forward.

Wherever he ends up, Vardy will have a tangible impact – be it within the dressing room, in training or on the pitch.
