IMAGO Titans captain Shubman Gill tipped to impress in their game against Sunrisers this weekend.

It has been a while since cricket had a ‘boy wonder’ to get excited about, but Vaibhav Suryavanshi can certainly lock-in that title for a few years to come after he hit 101 runs from 38 balls against Gujarat Titans on Monday, all at the tender age of 14 years old.

Michael Owen was four years older in 1998 when he scored that goal against Argentina, Pele was 17 when he made his World Cup debut and even the ‘Little Master’ Sachin Tendulkar had to wait until he was 16 to make his international debut!

It was an historic evening at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium as Suryavanshi hit the second-quickest century in the IPL and struck the joint-most sixes (11) in an innings by an Indian in the history of the tournament.

Unsurprisingly, he now holds the record as the youngest IPL centurion, making Manish Pandey’s effort at the age of 19 in 2009 look like nothing special. But Rajasthan will need him or his team-mates to reproduce those heroics across their final four group stage games to give themselves any chance of progression.

They do now have some hope though, as do Sunrisers Hyderabad who claimed their third win of the competition in their previous match but they also have little room for error across their five remaining fixtures.

Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans are much better placed, beginning Wednesday in the top three positions and both come into these games in strong form.

Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians preview

Six points separate the teams in the 2025 IPL table but it is Rajasthan Royals, down in eighth, who have beaten Mumbai Indians in both of the last two head to heads.

While ending a run of five successive defeats, Rajasthan also picked up their first win of this campaign at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Monday and the home fans will be hoping the momentum produced by Suryavanshi can now propel them to another victory.

That could be easier said than done against a Mumbai Indians outfit who are targeting their sixth successive win with their last three by margins of 54 runs, seven wickets and nine wickets!

After five games of this season, Mumbai had triumphed in only one match but they now look unstoppable and a record sixth IPL title is now being talked about.

FIRST’s top tip for Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians

Suryakumar Yadav to Score a fifty in the match - 17/10 with Highbet

The 34 year old right-hander is enjoying his cricket again and is averaging 61.00 with a strike-rate of 169.44 in the 2025 IPL.

Since making his debut in the tournament in 2012, he has only once managed a season with a higher strike-rate but has never produced an average of 44+!

‘SKY’ has hit two half-centuries across his last three innings and performing in away matches has not been an issue with the Indian international averaging 65.00 from his last four games on the road!

Gujarat Titans vs Sunrisers Hyderabad preview

Was Gujarat Titans’ defeat against Rajasthan due to a one-off incredible showing from Suryavanshi, or does it reveal a longer-term down-turn from the 2022 champions who have now lost two of their last four?

A similar question could be asked of Sunrisers Hyderabad who had lost six of their previous seven games before they brushed aside bottom of the table Chennai Super Kings with ease last Friday.

All will be revealed at the Narendra Modi Stadium this Friday as Gujarat target a fifth straight head to head success over Sunrisers and will be looking to replicate their seven wicket victory in Hyderabad from early April.

They have also made this venue something of a fortress and have already secured very comfortable wins over Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals in Ahmedabad this season.

FIRST’s top tip for Gujarat Titans vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

Shubman Gill to be Gujarat Titans’ top batter in the match - 9/4 with Highbet

The Gujarat skipper comes into this game in fantastic form after making 84 in the defeat against Rajasthan and 90 in the win over Kolkata Knight Riders.

Calm at the crease and always looking to lead from the front, he will feel he has unfinished business after being dismissed by a full-toss when eyeing up his fifth IPL century on Monday evening in Jaipur.

Gill’s innings included nine fours as part of his unbeaten 61 in the reverse fixture in Hyderabad, one of four games, including the last two, where he has finished as Gujarat Titans’ highest run scorer.

Extra Tips

Maheesh Theekshana to be top bowler (Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians) - 7/1 with Highbet

Although it was Suryavanshi who rightly stole the cricketing headlines across the globe on Monday, Sri Lankan spinner Theekshana also had a role to play in the victory.

The 24 year old picked up the key wickets of both openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill in a game where no other bowler dismissed two batters and only six wickets fell in total!

He’ll be delighted to return to the same venue so swiftly and will be looking forward to taking on another right-left opening partnership in Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton for Mumbai Indians.

Prasidh Krishna to be top bowler (Gujarat Titans vs Sunrisers Hyderabad) - 9/2 with Highbet

The 29 year old pace bowler is very much in the conversation for the Purple Cap this season and has 17 dismissals to his name so far.

Krishna has been making up for lost time after missing the last two IPL tournaments through injury and he requires just three more wickets to produce his best return in the competition.

He has taken three plus wickets in four of his eight IPL appearances at the Narendra Modi Stadium, where his strike-rate sits at an impressive 11.44, and where he took 4/41 against Delhi Capitals in his last appearance at the venue!

Odds correct at the time of writing.
