Andorra state of play

England return to World Cup qualifier action on Saturday as Thomas Tuchel's side face Andorra in Barcelona.

Andorra, who are currently 173rd in the FIFA rankings, have lost both of their qualifiers against Latvia and Albania, with Koldo Alvarez's men failing to score in both outings.

Andorra have won just one game - against San Marino - since September 2022 so it’s a question of how many will England score.

England state of play

Tuchel kicked off his England reign with 2-0 and 3-0 wins against Albania and Latvia respectively.

The Three Lions dominated the ball and got the job done on both occasions.

While you can only beat who’s in front of you, England took time to gel and Tuchel will be desperate for his attacking players to cause plenty of problems against this Andorra side.

Why is Andorra vs England being played in Spain?

Andorra’s national stadium is currently unavailable, due to the venue recently hosting the ‘Games of Small States of Europe’ - a smaller level version of the Olympic Games, with nine ‘small states’ in Europe.

UEFA confirmed the match would be moved outside of the country as no other stadiums in Andorra could facilitate this match.

Instead the match between Andorra and England will be held in the 40,000 capacity RCDE Stadium in Barcelona, the home of La Liga side Espanyol.

Key talking point: Does Tuchel need more time to implement an exciting style of play?

England averaged around 75 per cent possession in the Albania and Latvia games and while they had 39 shots (14 on target), questions still remained on their fluidity when getting the ball to their attacking stars.

These World Cup qualifiers against the likes of Andorra are simply box-ticking exercises for England and the real tests will come at the tournament next year.

Despite that, Tuchel will be keen to implement his style of play as soon as possible. The German promised attacking and free-flowing football but will we get that on Saturday?

FIRST’s top tip for Andorra vs England - Over 3.5 England goals at 13/20 with BetMGM

Most bookmakers aren’t currently offering odds on England to beat Andorra, they see no value in the 1x2 market at this stage, so it’s slightly harder to find value in the markets.

Our main bet is over 3.5 England goals. The Three Lions had 27 shots against Latvia in their last outing and all England supporters will be hoping the games get more entertaining as Tuchel settles in.

Andorra won’t be able to cope with England’s quality and even if it’s a tight game with half an hour to go, Tuchel will have an abundance of talent on the bench to bring on and score a couple of late goals.

Extra tips

Pick: Harry Kane to have over 2.5 shots on target at 6/5 with BetMGM

Pick: Harry Kane to score two or more goals at 7/4 with BetMGM

We’re obviously at the mercy of Tuchel’s team selection but if Harry Kane starts, expect him to be heavily involved in all the attacking action.

The England skipper, who just won his first piece of major silverware with Bayern Munich, scored in both of the Three Lions’ games under Tuchel.

Kane is England’s record goalscorer with 71 goals and he knows these games are a perfect opportunity to add to his tally.

Kane netted 38 goals for Bayern in the 2024/25 season and he averaged just under four shots per game. He’ll shoot from anywhere and he’s also on penalties.

Pick: Correct score: 0-4 at 19/5 with BetMGM

There’s no way Andorra are scoring so this smaller-stakes play is based on how many England score.

We’re happy with 4-0. Anything less would be a bit of an embarrassment for Tuchel’s side and with the German still implementing his ideas, we can’t see the Three Lions reaching a much bigger tally.

Team news

Tuchel has given a first senior call-up to Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah, while Ivan Toney has also returned to the squad.

Bukayo Saka, Conor Gallagher, Noni Madueke and Trent Alexander-Arnold are also set to make their first England appearances under Tuchel.
