England World Cup squad odds: Who’s in & who’s close after Latvia rout?

England booked their 2026 World Cup spot with a resounding 5-0 win over Latvia on Tuesday night. Victory in Riga means the Three Lions will jet stateside next summer with two games to spare after claiming all the spoils in all six qualifiers so far.

Having scored 18 goals and conceded none, Thomas Tuchel’s men are backed to go far, if not all the way, in North America in 2026, winning their first World Cup since 1966 in the process.

However, while there are a number of players guaranteed their place on the plane next year, there are still some spots up for grabs.

Here we run through the value picks of those looking to make the cut, plus the latest odds from the best football betting sites.

Djed Spence – Tottenham

Having made his full England debut in Thursday’s 3-0 win over Wales, Djed Spence started the win in Riga on Tuesday night and didn’t look out of place at right-back in the resounding victory over Latvia. Spence is a fully fledged first teamer under both Thomas Frank and Thomas Tuchel for club and country. How different things could have been for the 25-year-old.

Having spent the season on loan, Genoa sought to buy Spence from Spurs last summer yet failed to agree a fee for the versatile full-back. Fast-forward to the present day, and Spence is likely to make Tuchel’s final selection for the 2026 World Cup. He was previously at 11/4 to make the England squad next summer, and that has since shortened to 13/8 with bet365.

John Stones – Manchester City

Injuries have previously impacted John Stones, yet he still made the England squad for the October international break. In addition, he started both games against Wales and Latvia, which goes to show the faith shown in him by head coach Thomas Tuchel. To state the obvious, when fit; Stones makes the squad.

The issue boils down to his fitness, however. Stones recently revealed that he had considered retiring due to injury problems, and he’s only started in excess of 15 league games just once in the last four seasons. That said, he was key as England made the Euro 2024 final, and he’ll start for Tuchel’s side provided he can remain injury-free. As such, the 31-year-old is a decent punt at 4/6 with William Hill to make the World Cup squad.

Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa

Having scored in the 3-0 win over Wales last week, Ollie Watkins was forced off at the break owing to injury. Indeed, Watkins collided with the post as he slid for a cross, an incident that ruled him out of the Latvia game on Tuesday night. The Aston Villa striker has previously proven he deserves to be Harry Kane’s deputy, scoring the winning goal that took England to the Euro 2024 final last summer.

Watkins would have had more international caps in recent months were it not for injury, and while he has just one league goal to his name for Villa this season, a lack of competition for his place as Kane’s backup means the 29-year-old is guaranteed a place in the England setup when available. To be at evens with BetVictor to be picked by Tuchel next year feels like printing money.

Jordan Henderson – Brentford

Some England fans are still not pleased about Jordan Henderson making the squad. And yet, Thomas Tuchel continues to call upon the experienced midfielder. The Brentford man may not be earning regular minutes under the German, but Tuchel will likely lean upon Henderson to provide leadership in the England camp next summer.

In addition, he’s playing regularly for the Bees, and if he continues to perform well for the west London side, then few can argue against his inclusion for the national team. Henderson was at 9/2 to make the World Cup squad, but having been called up by Tuchel again this month, those odds have shortened to 6/5 with William Hill.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek – AC Milan

Ruben Loftus-Cheek returned to the England squad last month owing to injury to Adam Wharton. Many expected the AC Milan man to drop out for the October fixtures, but Thomas Tuchel retained the 28-year-old’s services, a decision that meant Wharton missed out. Loftus-Cheek went on to make his first England appearance in seven years when he replaced Declan Rice against Wales last week.

Granted, Loftus-Cheek is unlikely to start for the Three Lions, but Tuchel clearly saw enough of the AC Milan midfielder to name him in the squad for the October internationals. Like Henderson, Loftus-Cheek is an experienced head in a key position, and at 10/3 with bet365 to make the grade next summer, he’s still at decent odds to jet across the pond.
