We have bread and butter summer action on Tuesday afternoon, and Ed 'Longshot Ted' Quigley serves up his best bets for the day.

Beverley - 4.00 Jack Of Clubs e/w. Odds to follow

Any rain that hits the track will not be an issue for last year's winner JACK OF CLUBS, who can make it back-to-back wins in this contest. He has it in the locker to get the job done here off a mark of 52, considering that he won last year's renewal off 3lb higher.

You would imagine this has been the target for sometime, and after a couple of spins this season to remove the ring-rust, he looks primed for a big run off an attractive mark. The Michael Dods team have been amongst the winners in recent times, and this looks a good opportunity to add to the tally.

It isn't a race bursting with lots of in-form individuals, and the five-year-old has solid each-way claims of cashing in off a declining mark. This looks like a time to strike with Connor Beasley in the saddle, as the gelding returns to the scene of his only previous win on turf.

Nottingham - 4.42 Surprised. Odds to follow

We have a quintet due to go to post here for this Fillies' Handicap over 1m, and a case can be made for all of them in some shape or form. SURPRISED had looked good until running a stinker last time out, but that effort can be forgiven, as it was a muddling affair run at a steady pace, when she was upped to 9f in a Class 3 event at Hamilton last time out.

She failed to settle and trailed home last, but it was a case of everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong for the three-year-old. She's down in trip and down in Grade for this race assignment, so naturally she should find things more suitable in this company.

She is a low mileage customer, who looks open to improvement still, and a strongly run mile looks perfect for her. Callum Rodriguez is in the saddle for the Ed Bethell outfit, and Surprised looks more than capable of getting involved at the business end of proceedings.

Beverley - 5.00 Lastchancezouloon. Odds to follow

I like the chances of the unexposed LASTCHANCEZOULOON in this encounter over the extended 7f at Beverley. This lightly-raced filly has only had the four starts, and should be capable of offering more on just her second start in a handicap.

She has progressed steadily and showed a lot more on Handicap debut at Carlisle last time out when finishing third, staying on at the end of that 7f race on ground that was very testing. At the time of writing, the ground is on the quick side, but there is a fair amount of rain forecast in the area, and if that materialises, it shouldn't be a problem for this daughter of Zoustar, who showed her ability to handle such conditions.

Cam Hardie is in the saddle for the Richard Hardie team, and this combination look to have a solid chance of progressing once more to take advantage of an official mark of 62 from the foot of the weights. It's a trappy affair, but Lastchancezouloon can make her presence felt here.

Ted's Treble for Tuesday

Beverley - 4.00 Jack Of Clubs e/w

Nottingham - 4.42 Surprised

Beverley - 5.00 Lastchancezouloon

Don't forget, Ed will be back on Thursday with his wise wagers for the afternoon's action.
