While there has been significant movement in the betting market, a twist to the format for the current series means several dancers are still to make their mark on the ice.

Only six of the 11 participating celebrities made their bow on the opening episode with the remaining five set to be introduced this Sunday.

Initially, Dame Sarah Storey was included in the full line-up but due to suffering a fractured ankle in training, the multiple gold Paralympic champion was forced to withdraw.

In another tweak for the current season of the show, fans will not see the first elimination until the conclusion of this week’s session.

Dancing on Ice hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern confirmed there would be no dance-off in episode two with the first exit confirmed by tallying the public votes with the judges' scores.

The celebrity with the lowest combined score will exit the ice and the contest.

From Wacaday to Springwatch, Michaela Strachan has made her mark on TV over the decades, but now the veteran presenter is making strides on the ice with her odds of winning slashed at this early stage.

The 58-year-old put in an impressive performance in the curtain-raiser last week, earning rave reviews from the 2025 judges, Christopher Dean, Jayne Torvill, Ashley Banjo and Oti Mabuse.

Strachan’s display catapulted her to the top of the leaderboard with a total score of 30.5.

The latest odds from Bet442 sees Michaela Strachan as the early favourite to win Dancing on Ice 2025 at 57/20 with the chasing pack not far behind.

Coronation Street actor Sam Aston is the second favourite at odds of 33/10, with The Traitors participant Mollie Pearce next in line at 19/5.

Dancing on Ice is now in its 17th series, but there has been doubt cast on the show's future.

Not only are the dancers out to avoid low scores, but the show’s producers are wary of plummeting ratings after initial disappointment on the opening night.

An average of 2.9 million viewers tuned in to ITV on Sunday evening for the return of the competition, compared to the 3.6 million average for last year’s opener.

Across ITV’s linear flagship channel and the ITVX streaming service, the peak live audience was 3.1 million, reflecting a drop of almost one million from 2024.

Dancing on Ice judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are also keeping fans in suspense after the pair confirmed that 2025 and their upcoming tour will be their ‘last dance’ together.

As for Dancing on Ice, the duo have been coy with their remarks on the future of the show.
