Eurovision betting odds: Sweden the early favourites

The Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Basel on Saturday, 17 May and here we look at who the favourites are with our betting partner Ladbrokes

Before this weekend’s final, there are two semi-finals to enjoy this Tuesday, 13 May and Thursday, 15 May. Both events will see 16 countries battle it out for 10 qualifying spots for Saturday’s showpiece.

Six countries, including the United Kingdom and hosts Switzerland, already have their spot in the final confirmed.

This year, the UK’s entry is Remember Monday with a country-song ‘What the Hell Just Happened?’ Despite winning BBC talent show the Voice back in 2019, the trio have struggled to break it into the mainstream and will see this opportunity as a chance to kickstart their careers.

It’s always a popular night with viewers enjoying parties and placing bets on who will win. Ladbrokes have a range of markets for the night and here, we look at three of them:

Winner

Sweden have a remarkable record in this competition having won the contest seven times, a feat only Ireland can match them with. This year, their song ‘Bara Bada Bastu’ which translates to ‘Let’s just Sauna’, is the favourite to win with Ladbrokes at 11/10.

Elsewhere, the top three in the odds are made up by Austria and France. Austria’s entry - ‘Wasted Love’ by JJ - is growing in popularity, according to the odds, and is now priced at just 5/2 to be crowned the winner. France’s entry of ‘Maman’ by Louanne completes the top three in the market at 10/1.

Fancy an outsider? You’ll be pleased to know that Ladbrokes are paying 1/5 odds on each-way bets for countries that finish in the top four positions.

Top 10 Finish

Fancy building a bet that has multiple countries in one? Then you could back a few to finish in the top 10 of the leaderboard.

As well as the three favourites mentioned above, Netherlands, Israel, Finland, Estonia, Ukraine, Albania and Switzerland are all odds on to finish in the top 10. The biggest odds on one of the big five countries to finish top 10 is Spain who are currently priced at 6/1.

UK Specials

If you’re wanting to bet solely on the UK’s outcome then you’ll be pleased to hear that Ladbrokes have already priced up a few. Have no faith in the UK to get any points? You’ll get 12/1 on us propping up the table with nil points. Want to throw in Ireland into a bet? You’ll get 16/1 on the two countries finishing in the bottom two (any order).

Or, do you fancy the UK to win it for the first time since 1997? You’ll get 66/1 on our entry to the top the leaderboard come the end of the night.
