Austrian Grand Prix Odds: Oscar Piastri slight favourite over Lando Norris
The Red Bull Ring in Austria is known for its beautiful backdrops, nestled in the Styrian mountains. It is also known for its intense racing. The track is short, and it has a relatively basic layout, being considered a traditional F1 track in that regard.
However, it does feature elevation changes, which can make visibility and speed control tricky, and its layout means there can be some very tight racing.

The Austrian Grand Prix, which returned to the roster in 2014, following several years away, has thrown up some interesting occasions in the past.
Last year saw Verstappen gain the first two points on his Super Licence, for example. He picked up those two points for a coming-together with Lando Norris, gifting George Russell the victory.
Norris was involved in another collision last week, this time of his own doing. He and teammate Oscar Piastri have been battling for the lead in most races, so it was perhaps inevitable that there would be an incident at some point.
That incident occurred in Canada when Norris went into the back of Piastri. It was clearly Norris’ error and, to be fair to the Bristolian, he admitted culpability and apologised immediately after the race.
The collision saw Norris retire from the race and Russell win the race, with Verstappen in second ahead of Antonelli. Piastri and McLaren could only muster a fourth-place finish.
In truth, the McLarens had struggled for pace all race, and commentators and viewers have seen this as a sign that the Papayas’ dominance might be faltering.
McLaren currently sit at the top of the Constructors’ Championship with 374 points, ahead of Mercedes (199), Ferrari (183), and Red Bull (162). Their commanding lead has seen most bookmakers refusing straight bets on the constructor’s market.
Despite their lead, though, some believe the McLaren team could be about to struggle. Recent rule changes curtail the use of flexible front wings, and while the change had little impact in Spain, it seemingly made a big difference to the racing pace in Canada.
McLaren’s opponents will be looking for further signs of struggle, and F1 fans will be hoping for a more competitive battle between the teams.
In terms of prices, it is the usual suspects at the top. Piastri is the favourite to win the race at 9/5, closely followed by teammate Lando Norris at 2/1. Then comes Max Verstappen at 5/2.
George Russell is next in the betting with odds of 8/1 after taking his first win of the season in Canada, and he does have winning form in Austria.
Charles Leclerc has endured a disappointing start to the season and has been given odds of 16/1 to win at the Red Bull Ring.
One driver who is performing above expectations so far this year is Kimi Antonelli. The rookie only signed for Mercedes this year and partners with George Russell. He became the third youngest senior driver when he competed in the Australian Grand Prix: a race in which he finished fourth despite starting 16th.
Although he had a disappointing home race in the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, his third-placed finish and first-ever podium show he has real potential for some strong finishes. He is 33/1 for the win, the same price as Lewis Hamilton, but is 5/1 for a podium finish and 5/6 for a top-6.
