Will Erling Haaland claim Golden Boots after signing massive new contract?

Erling Haaland has committed his future to Manchester City, having signed a new contract that will keep him at the reigning Premier League champions until 2034. The Norwegian’s previous deal was set to expire in 2027 and reportedly had a release clause in place.
Haaland had been linked with a move to Real Madrid and other leading European leagues, but has now squashed that talk by signing a mammoth nine-and-a-half year contract with Manchester City - one of the longest signed in the history of football.

That would keep him at City until he is 34 and the striker has revealed the reasons why he has decided to remain in the Premier League.
Haaland said: “I am really happy to have signed my new contract and to be able to look forward to spending even more time at this great club.
“Manchester City is a special club, full of fantastic people with amazing supporters and it's the type of environment that helps bring the best out of everybody.
“I also want to thank Pep (Guardiola), his coaching staff, my teammates and everyone at the club as they have all helped me so much in the past couple of years.”
Manchester City fans will hope that the news gives a boost to the team, at a time when they have suffered a poor run of form and face Premier League charges for breaching financial rules.
The Citizens have only won four of their last 17 games across all competitions, with Haaland scoring only seven times during that run.
This is way below par for a striker that has found the net 111 times in just 126 appearances since joining the Manchester club.
Yet due to his early season form, Haaland is still well-placed to add to his personal honours this season, even if his team might fall short of landing silverware.
He is currently the second top scorer in the Premier League with 16 goals, just two behind the leader Mohamed Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.
Haaland also faces competition from Newcastle’s in-form Alexander Isak, who is just behind with 15 and his former Manchester City team-mate Cole Palmer, who has scored 14 times for Chelsea.
