Lewis Hamilton 20/1 to repeat last year's Silverstone success - but Norris favourite
As this year’s Formula 1 season reaches roughly the midway point, the racers head to Silverstone for this year’s British Grand Prix, where home advantage has played a part in the past. Bookies believe it will be a two-horse race between the two at the top of the championship, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
Lando Norris will be hoping for a home victory after closing the gap at the top of the Drivers’ Championship to 15 points with a win in last weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix.

Both McLaren drivers are set to benefit from recent changes made to the cars, but Norris, in particular, looked to enjoy his new front suspension last weekend. His dominant performance gave the Brit his third win of the season.
With the home driver advantage, his form in the last race, and the reported suspension improvements, Norris, who has previously described Silverstone as “the best high-speed track in the world,” has been priced as the slight favourite for the race, at odds of 6/4 at Ladbrokes.
Standing in Norris’s way is teammate Oscar Piastri. The current championship leader will be hoping to further extend his lead at the top by taking a sixth win of the season. Piastri ran Norris close last weekend, though, and if the rest of the season is anything to go by, it is likely to be these two battling it out at the front again. Piastri is 7/4 to take the win at Silverstone.
Neither Norris nor Piastri has won at Silverstone, but one current driver who has and who will be desperate to do so again is reigning world champion Max Verstappen. The Dutch driver crashed out of last weekend’s race in a collision that saw Kimi Antonelli handed a three-place grid drop for this race.
It's worth noting, FIRST's Formula 1 columnist Jennie Gow fancies Norris for a successive win.
Verstappen, who is 9/2 for the victory, lost out by less than 2 seconds to Lewis Hamilton in this race last year.
Hamilton’s 2024 success saw him end a victory drought that had lasted around three years, and he clearly loves the British track, so bettors write him off at their peril.
The seven-time world champion has yet to podium this year, and at odds of 20/1 for a win this year, bookmakers clearly don’t hold much stock in his previous course form this time around.
One Brit who could fare better is George Russell. Russell took his only victory of the season so far when he capitalised on a coming together between teammates Norris and Piastri in Canada.
He has also secured four other podiums this season, and he is bearing down on Verstappen for third place in the championship. The Dutchman is on 155 points while the Brit has 146 points. Russell has been given odds of 8/1 for his first Silverstone win.
Elsewhere in the betting, Hamilton’s teammate Charles Leclerc is priced slightly ahead of Hamilton at 16/1, and Antonelli, who will have to deal with that three-place grid drop, is 66/1.
