Jennie Gow F1 predictions: British GP betting tips, odds and race preview
Formula One state of play
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…as F1 comes home. It’s the British Grand Prix from Silverstone!
Last time out, it was a case of high drama at high-altitude as Max Verstappen, for the second year running, crashed out of the Austrian GP.

This time, through no fault of his own, as Mercedes Kimi Antonelli crashed into the back of his Red Bull. Although, starting in the mid-pack (7th), it’s something you leave yourself open to, and in all honesty, Verstappen looked unlikely to challenge for the race win anyway.
Perhaps that’s the reason Antonelli wasn’t met with anger from the Dutchman (or maybe something else is going on behind the scenes?).
Lando Norris had an outstanding weekend and he needed it after the last few weeks. The Brit, grabbing pole by over half a second from his nearest rival, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
It was a performance that reminded us all, Norris is here for the Championship this year. Don’t write the Brit off yet!
There are just 15 points now separating Championship leader Oscar Piastri from Norris, the two of them stretching their lead from the rest of the pack.
McLaren’s lead in the constructor’s championship is now a whopping 207 points.
Considering last-year they won the title by just 14-points, they might as well clear a spot at the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) for another two World Championship trophies, one better than last year! And to think, we’re only just reaching the half-way point of the season!)

British Grand Prix predictions
Can Hamilton make his case
F1 comes home this weekend. To the heart of British motorsport - Silverstone. A magical time of the year when strawberries and cream and Pimms flow, and sports fans flock to the tennis at Wimbledon and the British Grand Prix.
A track that is fast, technical, but one that all the drivers know like the back of their hands. In fact, Lewis Hamilton has finished on the podium at every race since 2014 and has won a record nine times.
Read: Four sports you should be betting on in 2025
The big question though is can he do it in a Ferrari? A car he’s struggled to get to grips with.
The magic of the crowd always gives something special to Hamilton. A win? That seems a long shot but Ferrari have a new floor and the upgrade saw them take 3rd and 4th last time out, so a podium spot could be well within Hamilton’s reach.
Even so, bookies have Lewis at 20/1 to win in front of his home crowd.
The Papaya party
Norris vs Piastri will be another fascinating battle, and it seems impossible to split the two this year. However, the home advantage (and last weekend’s win) could just give Norris a not-so-secret weapon.
Last year’s wet weather skewed the pit-stop statistics. With a quick pit-stop time of 20.5 seconds it’s marginal as to whether it will be a one or two stop race. Pirelli are bringing the C4, C3, C2 – a step softer than last year, in a hope to see different strategies on the starting grid.
Last year Hamilton won by making two-stops. 17 drivers started on the medium tyre, two on soft and only former Red Bull driver Sergio Perez on the hard tyres.
FIRST’s top tip for the British GP
Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, George Russell, and Max Verstappen all have a logical chance of winning.
Hamiton has nine wins at Silverstone to his name, Verstappen has won twice (Alonso and Sainz are the other past winners).
But for me it’s hard to see past the McLaren’s and with the home advantage (and the chance to make up for his loss last year) I’m backing Norris.
Pick: Lando Norris to win the British GP - 6/4 (10bet)

Things to consider and extra tips
Wimbledon/Silverstone double: If you want to back a summer of sport why not try and predict the Wimbledon winner and the British GP winner? If you’re backing the best of British, it's worth a long shot. Emma Raducanu and Norris double anyone?
Pick: Emma Raducanu to win Wimbledon and Lando Norris to win British GP - 46/1 (Ladbrokes)

All British podium: The last all-British F1 podium occurred 56 years ago at the 1968 US Grand Prix at the Watkins Glen.
Silverstone has had all-Brit podiums in 1958, 1963 and 1965 (Brands Hatch had an all-Brit podium at the 1964 British GP) and there’s a tantalising price boost with Ladbrokes.
Pick: Norris, Russell and Hamilton to finish on the podium in any order (was 10/1) NOW 14/1 (Ladbrokes)

All Brits to score: Norris, Hamilton, Russell, Bearman all in the top 10. The first three drivers have only failed to score points in one race each this season. The pressure point will be if Bearman can score.
Pick: Ollie Bearman to score a points finish at his home GP - 6/1 (Mr.Play)

He hasn’t scored since round four, but 11th place finishes in the last two rounds gives me some hope.
Hadjar back in the points: Hadjar has missed out on points six times this year but has never had three races consecutively not scoring. He’ll be hoping to get back to the top 10 this weekend after a couple of disappointing races.
Pick: Isack Hadjar to score a points finish - 7/5 (Ladbrokes)

Winning margin: The smallest winning margin was in 2013 when Nico Rosberg won by just 0.765s. Of the last 10 races at Silverstone, the average win margin is 7.960s and the last four have been won with a margin smaller than 4s. (The largest winning margin of recent times was 2008 when Hamilton won by 68.577s).
I would predict a tight race. The stats point towards less than 5s.
Pick: Winning margin - 00:00-05.999 - 8/11 (Ladbrokes)

Changing orders at the front: There has never been a race at Silverstone where the top three finished in the order as they started.
Pick: Number of race leaders: Over 2.5 - 4/9 (Ladbrokes)

Qualifying margins: 0.003 seconds decided pole in Damon Hill and Rubens Barrichello’s favours in 1994 and 2000 respectively.
There have been 16 qualifying sessions at Silverstone in which pole has been decided by less than a tenth of a second – including in five of the last eight races at the track. I’d back that this weekend.
Pick: Qualifying winning margin - Under 1.0 seconds - 8/11 (10bet)
