Marcus Rashford next club odds: Bayern Munich zero in after Diaz rejection
Bayern Munich have reportedly turned their attention to wantaway Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, after seeing their approach for Luis Diaz rejected by Liverpool. Having approached Liverpool to sound them out about a deal for the Colombian winger, Bayern received a firm rebuttal from Liverpool.
The player was instrumental in helping Liverpool secure the title last season, and with two years left on his contract, the 28-year-old seemingly remains part of the Anfield club’s near-term plans. The Reds have had to stave off interest in the player already this summer. Al Nassr have reportedly shown interest in a big-money move, while Barcelona have had a move rejected.

It has long been apparent that Rashford’s time at United is up. Having spent the latter part of last season on loan at Aston Villa, the England striker was keen on a move to Barcelona.
In May, the feeling looked to be mutual, with Barcelona priced as even favourites to secure his signature. Villa certainly believed the deal to be a foregone conclusion, opting against trying to convince him to stay at Villa Park.
However, talks appear to have cooled as Barcelona reportedly need to free up room in their wage bill to sign the megabucks striker.
According to reports, Barcelona’s delay has led to German giants Bayern Munich considering an approach for the 27-year-old Manchester United academy graduate. If Rashford signed for Bayern, he would be joining England captain Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala, and Joshua Kimmich.
While the odds of Rashford signing for Barcelona by the start of next season have slipped to 5/2, Bayern have been installed as the favourites. Bet365 have given odds of 6/4.
Rashford is one of several players tipped to leave United this summer, as Ruben Amorim attempts to free up funds for a squad rebuild. Antony, Sancho, and Garnacho all look likely to be heading out the door, too.
Matheus Cunha has signed a deal to join the club, and it looks likely that Bryan Mbeumo will follow, although negotiations have slowed as Brentford look to eek as much money out of the deal as possible.
Aside from Bayern and Barcelona, Rashford has been given odds of 3/1 to remain a United player next season. Amorim looks unlikely to play the striker again, and Rashford expressed his desire for a new challenge during an interview in December.
In the interview, he said: “When I leave it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. If I know that a situation is already bad I’m not going to make it worse. I’ve seen how other players have left in the past and I don’t want to be that person.” As we’ve seen with Jadon Sancho, a desire to move away doesn’t always result in a transfer, and while it has proven impossible to reintegrate Sancho back into the squad, Rashford’s comments leave the door open, albeit only slightly ajar.
Other possible destinations still include Aston Villa (10/1) as well as a team in Saudi Arabia (10/1), Newcastle (14/1), and Tottenham (20/1).
