The World Darts Championship begins in less than a week and I’m more excited about that than Christmas!
This year, the winner will receive a cheque for £1m for the first time ever and it shows just how popular the sport has gotten in recent years.

A big part of that is the emergence of Luke Littler and his dominance, despite not turning 19 until January 2026.
Ever since reaching the World Championship final in 2024, the teenager has collected major titles like Panini football stickers. Indeed, he now has nine PDC majors to his name and is the undisputed favourite to retain his world crown.
With mere days away from the action kicking off, we take a look at the updated odds from FIRST.com’s partners Betfred, following the conclusion of last weekend's Players Championship Finals.
Luke Littler – 11/10
A week ago, Littler was Evens for the title, but this has drifted slightly to 11/10 with Betfred.
Also in the running for the end of year Sports Personality of the Year award, He comes into the tournament in excellent form. The Englishman has won the Players Championship Finals, Grand Slam and World Grand Prix since October.
He will play Darius Labanauskas in the opening round and is in the opposite side of the draw to great rival Luke Humphries at the Ally Pally.
Luke Humphries – 9/2
Like his namesake, Humphries has drifted slightly just days before the start of the tournament. He was 7/2 last week, but is now 9/2 thanks to Betfred.
He cannot face Littler until the final at least, but he could meet the likes of Nathan Aspinall and Gian van Veen before the semi-finals if all goes to plan.

Humphries hasn’t won a PDC major since the Premier League in May. He is certainly due a big title, but does he have the tools required to dethrone Littler? Only time will tell.
Gerwyn Price – 16/1
So much can change in a week. Price was fifth-favourite last week, but has now vaulted up to third in the market, albeit at odds of 16/1.
The Welshman returned to form at the Players Championship Finals, reaching the semi-finals at Minehead, only losing to Littler.
He has won this event before and without a PDC major since 2022, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him win a second world crown.
Josh Rock – 16/1
Rock has gone from 12/1 a week ago to 16/1 with just days until the start of the tournament.
The Northern Irishman reached the quarter-finals of the previous two majors, but has yet to taste victory in one of the big events.

His record at the Ally Pally is patchy at best. Reaching the fourth round on his debut in 2023 was the furthest he has been. Progress was halted at the second round in 2024 and round three at the 2025 edition.
Gian van Veen – 16/1
It looked as though Gian van Veen would kick on after winning the European Championship a few weeks ago.
The Dutchman, however, went on to suffer a group stage exit at the Grand Slam, before losing in the second round of the Players Championship Finals.
He has the ability to progress far, but which version of Van Veen will turn up at the World Championships?
Odds of 16/1 reflect this. If he gets off to a hot start, the 23-year-old could go on a deep run.
Michael van Gerwen – 20/1
So often a behemoth of the sport, Van Gerwen comes into this event under the radar. This might actually be a good thing for the Dutchman as he seeks to win a fourth world title.
Since last tasting victory here, Van Gerwen has lost three finals, with the last one coming against Littler in January.
At his peak, there would have to be something seriously wrong to see him at odds of 20/1. Given his talent and experience at the Ally Pally, surely placing money on him could turn out to be a wise move?

Luke Littler – 1/1
It is perhaps no surprise that Littler’s odds have shifted from 6/5 a week ago to evens courtesy of Betfred after yet another successful week.
Not since Phil Taylor was in his prime has a player had shorter odds heading into the World Championship and Littler looks ready to deliver once again.
He moved seamlessly through the field last week, defeating Chris Dobey in the quarter-final, Gerwyn Price in the semi-final and then Aspinall in the decider.
Littler, also in the SPOTY running, averaged over 108 in the win against Price, while recording a 103.33 average in the final as he was at his very best in Minehead.
If he manages to keep his head and performs to his best, another World Championship title is surely his to lose.
Luke Humphries – 7/2
The Players Championship Finals was a tournament Humphries was defending, yet he suffered an early exit to Gian van Veen.
Indeed, the nature of the draw and Humphries' low seeding meant a tie of this calibre was always on the cards, but few expected the Englishman to suffer a loss.
Last week, he was odds of 10/3 to win a second world title, but his price has lengthened slightly to 7/2 after this poor performance in Minehead.
He will undoubtedly be a strong favourite to repeat his 2024 success, yet his record against Littler this year is worrying.
He hasn’t defeated the teenager since May and should they meet at the Alexandra Palace, the younger Luke will be licking his lips in anticipation.
Gian van Veen – 12/1
Van Veen’s price hasn’t changed since last week, remaining at 12/1 via Betfred, despite defeating Humphries at the Players Championship Finals.
The Dutchman came back from 4-2 at one stage to win the match in the decider, yet ended up losing to Krzysztof Ratajski in the next round.
This lack of consistency could prove to be his downfall at the World Championships. There is no doubt the 23-year-old has the talent to beat anyone on his day – as evidenced by his victory at the European Championship in October – but he must bring his A game against lower ranked players.
Josh Rock – 14/1
Rock’s odds have lengthened to 14/1 from 12/1 last week on Betfred, despite an encouraging showing at the Players Championship Finals.
He reached the quarter-finals with relative ease last week, but suffered defeat to an inspired Aspinall, who averaged 101.40 to move into the last four.
The Northern Irishman has shown that he can be dangerous at the upcoming World Championships, reaching the quarter-finals or better at four major tournaments this year.
If he lands a decent draw and things go his way, Rock could go deep at the Alexandra Palace.
Michael van Gerwen – 16/1
Van Gerwen missed the Players Championship Finals for the first time in his career last week. As such, his odds have drifted from 14/1 to 16/1 with just two weeks until the big one arrives.
Given his performances this year, it would be a surprise to see him reach the final, never mind win the whole thing.
Van Gerwen, however, cannot be counted out due to his reputation, plus the fact he has three world titles under his belt.
At one stage, it appeared as though he could challenge Taylor’s record of 16 titles. Now, he would bite your hand off for just one more.
Gerwyn Price – 16/1
The Welshman’s price has seen the biggest movement amid the contenders in the last seven days.
He was 12/1 before the final major event before the worlds, yet this has drifted to 16/1 with Betfred, despite the fact he reached the semi-finals in Minehead.
Semi-final appearances at the last two majors signal a return to his best at precisely the right time.
Can he go all the way next month? Don’t rule him out.

Previous Odds
17/11/2025
Luke Littler – 6/5
Over the longer format, Littler currently looks unbeatable. While many players have a chance of defeating the teen in games that are best of 11 legs, the longer the match goes on, Littler’s chances of success increase rapidly.
Prior to the Grand Slam, Littler was sitting at odds of 11/8 for a second world title.
Thanks to winning his fifth ranking title of the season, Littler’s odds have shortened slightly to 6/5 courtesy of Betfred.
Don’t be surprised to see him win a maiden Players Championship Finals title this week.
Luke Humphries – 10/3
Humphries was more than a match for Littler in the Grand Slam final, until the youngster took out a stunning 160 checkout to move 11-9 ahead, giving his namesake a rueful smile afterwards.
This was the pivotal moment and Humphries couldn’t recover, eventually losing 16-11. To make matters worse, he lost his world number one ranking in the process.
As such, his odds have lengthened to 10/3 from 7/2 a few weeks ago. The 2024 world champion has lost his previous three major finals and this will undoubtedly shake his confidence.
Gerwyn Price – 12/1
Price enjoyed a productive week at the Grand Slam, reaching his first ranking semi-final since the 2023 World Grand Prix.
It has certainly been a mixed bag for Price this season. A solitary major semi-final isn’t good enough, yet he won a European Tour and World Series event and clearly thrives across the shorter, best of 11 matches.

No such luxury is awarded at the World Championships, however, and this is perhaps reflected in his odds of 12/1 to win a second world crown.
Josh Rock – 12/1
At one stage over the summer, it finally looked as though Josh Rock was going to fulfil his wonderful talent. He helped Northern Ireland claim a first ever World Cup title before reaching the semi-finals of the Word Matchplay.
Inconsistency has been his biggest problem since. Early exits at both the World Grand Prix and European Championship were disappointing, but a quarter-final defeat to Littler at the Grand Slam showed there were signs of improvement.
He’s at 14/1 for the Players Championship this week. A few weeks ago, Rock was 14/1 to win the World Championship title, but this has since shortened to 12/1 thanks to Betfred.
Gian van Veen – 12/1
Like Rock, Gian van Veen has demonstrated that he belongs on the biggest stage throughout the previous few months on tour.
He has, however, already sealed a major title. The Dutchman stormed through the field at the European Championship, defeating Michael van Gerwen in the semi-final before a superb 11-10 victory over Humphries in the final.
The 23-year-old fell at the group stage last week, but it is surely only a temporary bump in the road.
That has lengthened his odds from 8/1 last month to 12/1 now thanks to Betfred.
Michael van Gerwen – 14/1
Van Gerwen is back and fighting to get back to his former self again. He reached the semi-final and quarter-final of the European Championship and Grand Slam respectively in recent weeks.
The Dutchman isn’t in the field for the Players Championship Finals as he failed to make the top 64 in the rankings to secure qualification.
With that, the Grand Slam was his final chance of true competitive action before the world's kick off. But will this prove to be a blessing in disguise?
His odds have lengthened slightly, going from 11/1 to 14/1 in the space of a few weeks courtesy of Betfred.

Luke Littler – 11/8
Littler came into the European Championship having won his first World Grand Prix crown a few weeks prior.
He lost in the first round of the 2024 European Championship and was looking to make amends this year. Furthermore, the teenager was aiming to win four consecutive major titles having claimed the UK Open, World Matchplay and Grand Prix.
In Dortmund, however, he was pipped by James Wade in the second round. Despite this early defeat, he is still favourite to win the World title at odds of 11/8.
Luke Humphries – 7/2
Humphries won six major titles from October 2023 to November 2024, establishing himself as the best player in the world.
This season, however, the Englishman has claimed only two major crowns: the World Masters and Premier League.
Humphries has reached the finals of the Grand Prix and European Championship in recent weeks, yet lost to Littler and Van Veen respectively.
He is still the second favourite for the worlds at odds of 7/2 and these are unchanged from a few weeks ago.
Gian van Veen – 8/1
A few weeks ago, Van Veen was 20/1 to win a maiden World Championship crown. Now, after winning the European Championship title, he has soared to being third favourite at odds of just 8/1.

Of course, plenty can change in the coming weeks, but the Dutchman will be hoping he can go from strength to strength ahead of the biggest event in the calendar.
Strong performances at the Grand Slam and Players Championship Finals will likely see his odds shorten.
Michael van Gerwen – 11/1
Van Gerwen has moved up to being the fourth favourite to become a four-time world champion, but his odds have lengthened slightly.
He was 10/1 a few weeks ago, but has slipped to 11/1, despite reaching the semi-finals of the European Championship.
The Dutchman lost to his compatriot, Van Veen, in Germany, but it does appear as though he is finally returning to his best form.
Van Gerwen hasn’t won a major title for nearly a year. Can he change this at the Grand Slam?
Gerwyn Price – 12/1
Price is another player who has seen his odds lengthen in recent weeks. As short as 8/1 a few weeks ago, the Welshman has drifted out to 12/1 after a poor display in Germany.
Indeed, the 2021 world champion lost in the first round to Chris Dobey, continuing his major title drought that stretches back to 2022.
Price has reached just two major semi-finals this season and needs a big finish to give himself confidence heading to the Alexandra Palace this December.
Josh Rock – 14/1
Rock has enjoyed a solid few months. Not only did he win the World Cup representing Northern Ireland, but he has also reached two European Tour finals and the last four at the World Series of Darts Finals.
As such, he was the fourth favourite for the World Championship just a few weeks ago, but the Irishman has suffered early exits at the two latest major tournaments.
Last week, Rock lost in round 1 to Ricardo Pietreczko at the European Championship. Despite this, his odds have gone from 20/1 to 14/1.
He has the potential, but the onus is on him to follow Van Veen and secure a maiden major in the next few weeks.

13/10/2025
Luke Littler – 5/4
After winning his first world title in January, many predicted Littler to eclipse the records set by the great Phil Taylor.
His first goal will be to retain his title, becoming the youngest to ever win consecutive world crowns.
Littler added the UK Open, World Matchplay and Grand Prix titles to his ever-growing resume this year, while also reaching the final of the Premier League and World Series of Darts Finals.
It is simple: if Littler plays at his best, he will win another World Championship title.
Luke Humphries – 7/2
Despite Littler stealing the limelight, Humphries has still managed to defeat the teenager in three major finals since January 2024.
The Englishman is arguably the only player right now who can challenge Littler, although his lop-sided defeat in the Grand Prix final may have dented his confidence.
With the World Masters and Premier League crowns already won this year, Humphries has shone in spells, however, he will need to step up if he aims to win a second world title in 2026.
Gerwyn Price – 8/1
Gerwyn Price has one world title to his name, but someone of his talent certainly deserves more.
Unfortunately with Littler and Humphries leading the way, Price will have to fight harder than ever.
He hasn’t won a major PDC title since 2022, although the Welshman has won three World Series titles and a European Tour crown since the start of 2024.
Odds of 8/1 reflect this, but a favourable draw combined with some solid opening performances could give Price the confidence to challenge the two favourites.
Josh Rock – 8/1
Six months ago, Josh Rock wasn’t the joint-third favourite to win the World Championship. His rise since then is testament to the Northern Irishman finally delivering on his potential.
Alongside Daryl Gurney, he helped his nation win a first ever World Cup, before progressing to the semi-finals of the World Matchplay a month later.
The 24-year-old then reached back-to-back European Tour finals before succumbing in the last four of the World Series Finals.
A second round exit at the Grand Prix wasn’t ideal, but with three majors before the World Championship, Rock will be looking to send out a message to his rivals.
Michael van Gerwen – 10/1
Michael van Gerwen hasn’t won a ranked television event since the 2022 Players Championship Finals.
This year has been particularly difficult. Following a loss in the World Championship final to Littler, Van Gerwen suffered early exits at the World Masters, UK Open, World Matchplay and the Grand Prix.
The Dutchman did secure a superb victory over Littler in Amsterdam to claim the World Series Finals title, however, proving that he certainly still has it.
Can Van Gerwen realistically challenge for a fourth world title? The next few weeks will be the judge of that.
Gian van Veen – 20/1
Raymond van Barneveld and Van Gerwen are the only two Dutchmen to have won a PDC World Championship.
Could Gian van Veen be the third? The youngster has immense talent and has shown remarkable improvement throughout 2025.
Indeed, he reached the quarter-finals of the UK Open and World Matchplay, while also helping the Netherlands reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.
He is trending in the right direction, no doubt about that. Having already defeated the likes of Rob Cross, Gary Anderson, Price and Littler across various events this year, the 23-year-old doesn’t appear to be afraid of anyone.
| World Championship 2026 winner | Odds (with Ladbrokes) |
| Luke Littler | 5/4 |
| Luke Humphries | 7/2 |
| Gerwyn Price | 8/1 |
| Josh Rock | 8/1 |
| Michael van Gerwen | 10/1 |
| Gian van Veen | 20/1 |
