PFA Player of the Year odds: Rice proving Haaland’s closest competitor
As we head into December, the Premier League games are starting to come thick and fast. It is the most wonderful time of the year, after all.
And as we gear up for the hectic festive period, what better time to run through the favourites for the PFA Player of the Year award. A run of form can see those odds fluctuate dramatically, so be sure to keep tabs on the odds from the best UK bookmakers.
Erling Haaland
Even after a three-game goalless run, Erling Haaland remains the 7/4 favourite with BetVictor to be named PFA Player of the Year next May. The Norwegian hitman tops the goalscoring charts with 14 league goals to his name, and while he drew blanks in recent Premier League outings against Newcastle and Leeds, Haaland is expected to get back among the goals before long.
With Manchester City still in the Premier League title hunt, even if they are five points behind league leaders Arsenal, Haaland is the one-man wrecking ball driving their push for domestic glory. If he can single-handedly fire City back to the title, then he’ll be a shoo-in for the award.

Declan Rice
Declan Rice’s price for the award continues to shorten. Having previously been at 12/1 to be named PFA Player of the Year, the Arsenal star is now at 4/1 to claim the accolade with Unibet. That shouldn’t come as a surprise. Rice is continuously proving why he’s considered the best midfielder in the Premier League.
And if Arsenal do, at long last, go the distance, then Rice will have been a key reason behind domestic, and potentially continental, success. The ultimate box-to-box midfielder, the 26-year-old has what it takes to cap a fine season with a winners’ medal and the PFA award to boot.

Bukayo Saka
Bukayo Saka remains a key player for Arsenal. Indeed, he’s widely considered to be one of the best right wingers in world football, and justifiably so. That being said, Saka continues to sit at the 10/1 mark with Unibet to win the PFA Player of the Year award. Much of that is down to his lack of output.
Yes, Saka is a world class talent, and he’s vital for Arsenal. However, he’s scored just three goals and finally provided his first league assist of the season in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea. As such, voters may look elsewhere when the time comes to name their preference for the individual gong.
Gabriel Magalhaes
At one stage, Gabriel Magalhaes was Erling Haaland’s closest competitor for the PFA award, and understandably so. The Brazilian started the season brilliantly, proving a vital player for Arsenal at both ends of the pitch. Disaster, though, struck last month as the centre-back pulled up with an injury while on international duty.
Gabriel is expected to return to action later this month, which is just as well as Arsenal compete on multiple fronts. Even so, the 27-year-old has drifted from 4/1 to 12/1 with Unibet to win the PFA Player of the Year award due to injury. Once he is back to his best, then expect that price to shorten.

Eberechi Eze
Another Arsenal star whose price has shortened, Eberechi Eze was previously at 33/1 to win the PFA Player of the Year accolade. He’s now at 20/1 with William Hill to claim the award. Eze has proven a fine addition to the Arsenal ranks following his arrival from Crystal Palace, with the peak of his time at the Emirates so far, his hat-trick in the North London Derby.
That being said, Eze may start to find regular minutes a little trickier to come by, through no fault of his own of course. Captain Martin Odegaard recently returned to first team duties following a lengthy spell on the sidelines, and with both the Norwegian and Eze operating in similar midfield roles; the England international is unlikely to challenge the likes of Haaland and Rice for the gong.
