PFA Player of the Year odds 2025: Haaland, Salah & Saka among early favourites

There have been a number of standout performers in the opening weeks of the Premier League season. Those who have shone for their respective sides as they seek to achieve their seasonal goal.

As such, there are a handful of frontrunners in the race to secure the PFA Player of the Year award. Won by Mohamed Salah last season, the Egyptian will look to inspire the Reds to back-to-back Premier League titles, and land a second successive individual award in the process.

However, Salah has ample competition for the gong as we run through the early favourites for the gong.

Erling Haaland

The Premier League’s top scorer and the early favourite to win the Golden Boot, Erling Haaland has made a sensational start to the season. Indeed, he’s scored nine times in the opening seven games of the campaign, scoring in all but one top-flight appearance. As Manchester City seek to reclaim their Premier League crown, the Norwegian goal machine is doing all he can to fire the Cityzens to domestic glory.

Haaland was named the PFA Player of the Year in 2023, having scored 36 league goals in his debut season in England, and if he can come close to matching that goal haul with a title to boot, then the 25-year-old is likely to win the award for the second time in his career. At this stage, the City forward is at 4/1 with Betway to be named PFA Player of the Year.

Mohamed Salah

Only three players in history have won successive PFA Player of the Year awards: Thierry Henry, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kevin De Bruyne. Mohamed Salah is aiming to join the illustrious club but he’ll need to up his game to really challenge Haaland. Indeed, Salah has made a stuttering start to the season, scoring just two goals and providing two assists so far.

Liverpool, meanwhile, went into the international break on a three-game losing streak, which includes Premier League defeats at Crystal Palace and Chelsea, but a return to form to coincide with an improvement in Salah’s showings will see the Merseysiders get their season back on track. The Egyptian, though, is now at 10/1 with William Hill to make it back-to-back Player of the Year awards.

Bukayo Saka

Arsenal went into the domestic hiatus at the top of the Premier League. After a summer of heavy investment, with the Gunners now boasting one of the strongest squads in Europe, Mikel Arteta’s men are backed to go the distance in England’s top tier. Domestic success will depend on Bukayo Saka’s form.

Saka has missed chunks of 2025 due to injury, yet if Arsenal are able to pip the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City to the title, then it’s likely the England international will have played a key role. The homegrown hero inspiring the north London side to a first piece of Premier League success in over 20 years means Saka is presently at good value at 12/1 with William Hill to secure the individual gong.

Declan Rice

Another Arsenal star who is flying at present, Declan Rice has proven a superb signing for the club, having joined from West Ham last summer. Rice is not a jack of all trades midfielder, but rather a master, as he carries out a number of crucial duties in the Gunners midfield.

While he perhaps doesn’t earn the plaudits as a number of other high-profile Premier League performers, that shouldn’t diminish his importance to Mikel Arteta’s side. Arsenal are desperate for success this season, and with the 26-year-old firing on all cylinders in the opening weeks of the campaign, it’s seen Rice rise to 13/1 with Unibet to claim the PFA Player of the Year award.

Tijjani Reijnders

The highest-ranked new signing in the race for the PFA Player of the Year award, Tijjani Reijnders enjoyed a Premier League debut to remember back in August. While the performance levels have slipped a touch in the weeks since, the Dutchman has injected some much-needed dynamism into the Manchester City midfield.

While Erling Haaland is the hitman in this City side, Reijnders is the driving force from deep. Able to play as a progressor, a ball winner and a box-crasher, the former AC Milan man has been a revelation for Pep Guardiola’s team. The 27-year-old is currently at 16/1 with Betway to win the PFA Player of the Year award, which would be a huge achievement in his maiden Premier League campaign.
