IMAGO Michael van Gerwen and Nathan Aspinall shake hands, MVG takes on Rob Cross in this week's Birmingham quarter final

Luke Littler hasn’t won a nightly crown since week eight in Newcastle. Indeed, this was the last time he even reached a final and by his own high standards, this drop off in form is alarming.

The teenager has an ideal chance to bounce back this week in Birmingham. A quarter-final clash against Stephen Bunting is up first, while either Nathan Aspinall or Chris Dobey await in the semi-final.

This half of the draw appears perfect for Littler to reach his sixth final of the season, but the bottom half is tougher to predict. And what makes the Premier League darts such a great betting sport.

Luke Humphries and Gerywn Price are riding high, whereas Rob Cross and Michael van Gerwen have it all to do to make the playoffs at the O2 in a few weeks.

Key talking points: Luke Humphries will be out for revenge in Birmingham

Humphries lost in the final last week to Price as the Welshman claimed his third nightly crown in what has been a Jekyll and Hyde-like season so far.

The 2024 world champion averaged 102.64 in the defeat, hitting two 180s in the process, but it wasn’t enough against a rejuvenated Price.

A quarter-final showdown this week looks tasty on paper. If they can deliver as they did in Liverpool, the match will prove to be another thriller.

Both Cross and Van Gerwen sit just outside the playoff places heading into week 13. However, one of them will lose more ground as the pair face off in the Midlands.

The Englishman has won only seven of his 19 games so far, yet has defeated Price, Humphries and Van Gerwen throughout the 2025 season. Cross even ranks third for tournament average (98.84) in the Premier League and should he bring his A game, he has a great chance of winning.

The three-time world champion did come back from 4-0 down against Littler last week to secure a stunning 6-5 victory. But he couldn’t convert this into a nightly win, losing in the semi-final to Humphries.

Aspinall finds himself on 17 points, just inside the playoff places, and with a clash against Chris Dobey this week, he has a chance to gain another two points.

An average of 104.03 was impressive against Humphries last time out, yet it wasn’t good enough as he slumped to a 6-3 loss. Winning in Manchester a few weeks ago has been the highlight this season. If the 30-year-old wishes to make it to the O2, a win over Dobey is a must.

The first clash of the evening could see Littler assert his dominance. It is no secret that Bunting has struggled during the Premier League season, winning only eight points thus far.

As evidenced in week eight, once Bunting hits top gear, he is extremely difficult to stop. Aspinall, Humphries and Price were all swatted aside for the loss of just nine legs across those three games.

Littler may not have been at his best in recent weeks, yet he still leads the way with regards to tournament average (103.23), total 180s (128) and high checkout average (114.23), underlining his credentials as the main man.

If he can rediscover top form this week, then it might well be a procession for the 18-year-old.

FIRST’s top tip for Premier League darts night 13

Luke Humphries to average over 99.5 against Price - 5/6 (BetMGM)

Humphries’ tournament average currently stands at 99.69 across 26 games.

Factor in his averages of 113.5 against Aspinall and 102.64 against Price last week, siding with the Englishman to average over 99.5 against Price at 5/6 with BetMGM is FIRST’s best bet of the night.

Extra tips

Nathan Aspinall to defeat Chris Dobey – 9/10 (BetMGM)

Securing a semi-final spot this week will ensure Aspinall claims another two points in his quest to make the playoffs. He certainly has enough in his locker to defeat Dobey.

Rob Cross vs Michael van Gerwen over 9.5 legs – 17/20 (BetMGM)

Across their previous four matches in the best-of-11 legs format, each game has gone over 9.5 legs, making 17/20 an excellent price.
