IMAGO Michael van Gerwen and Nathan Aspinall face off on the Aberdeen oche with the winner making a huge leap to the playoffs.

After week 14 in Leeds, Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price all secured qualification for the playoffs at the O2 arena later this month.

The top two were all but guaranteed their places weeks ago, while a solid week for Price in Leeds ensured he returns to the playoffs after missing out in 2024.

All eyes will be on Nathan Aspinall and Michael van Gerwen, who will be battling it for the fourth and final spot in Aberdeen this week.

Rob Cross and Chris Dobey retain slim hopes of sneaking into the top four, but they will need to do something special this week and next.

There are a couple of exciting quarter-final matches in store for the Scottish crowd this week, especially with plenty at stake for a few players.

Quarter-final fixtures for night 15 in Aberdeen

Michael van Gerwen vs Nathan Aspinall

Gerwyn Price vs Stephen Bunting

Chris Dobey vs Rob Cross

Luke Littler vs Luke Humphries

Key talking point: Rob Cross still has faint hopes of making the playoffs

Cross sat out the recent Players Championship events, meaning he will be fresh heading into a vital week of action.

The Englishman has won two of his previous three games against Dobey, including at the quarter-final stage of the 2025 World Championship and he will be up for the occasion in Aberdeen.

Dobey’s campaign has been littered with disappointment. He had a chance to reach another semi-final in Leeds, but lost 6-5 to Bunting. He ranks eighth for tournament average (95.74) and sixth for total 180s (64) in the Premier League this season.

He deserved to secure a spot in the event, but by his own high standards, Dobey has underperformed massively.

The tie with most at stake is between Aspinall and Van Gerwen. The result of the first quarter-final will go a long way in potentially deciding who takes the last playoff spot.

Aspinall holds the better recent head-to-head between the pair, triumphing in three of their four matches in the Premier League this season.

The Dutchman’s form has been dismal to say the least. Indeed, he has lost his previous four games, including a 6-5 loss to Dominik Gruellich – the world number 96 – at Players Championship 15.

How are the top three shaping up?

While the clash between Humphries and Littler doesn’t matter on paper, pride will certainly be at stake. The older Luke defeated his younger namesake in Leeds last week, much to the delight of the crowd.

Unless something miraculous happens, the duo will avoid each other until the final at the O2, therefore both will be able to perform without any pressure. As such, the Aberdeen crowd could be in for a wonderful match which will be reminiscent of an exhibition.

As mentioned, Price has sealed a spot in London at the end of the month, while Bunting will miss out.

The Welshman has won three nightly crowns this season, but has fallen at the quarter-final stage seven times.

Remarkably, he has defeated both Littler and Humphries in finals throughout 2025, proving that he still rises up to the big occasions.

Even more remarkable is Bunting has an impressive record against the 2021 world champion this year. Two of the three clashes in this event have gone the way of the Englishman. Something which might give him a confidence boost.

FIRST’s top tip for Premier League Darts night 15

Cross knows that his playoff hopes are slim, but if he can reach the final in Aberdeen, he still has a chance providing other results go his way.

As such, siding with Cross to defeat Dobey at 10/11 with BetMGM is FIRST’s best bet of the night.

Extra tips

Michael van Gerwen and Nathan Aspinall over 9.5 legs – 4/5 (BetMGM)

Stretching back to the start of the 2024 Premier League, the pair have faced each other seven times, with five matches going over 9.5 legs.

Given the enormity of the match, expect this to be a close run affair between the two players vying for the last playoff spot.

Luke Humphries and Luke Littler to total over 6.5 180s – 4/7 (BetMGM)

In the final last week, ten 180s were recorded between the pair. Going back to their April matchup, nine were scored.

Given the result doesn’t matter for either player, expect the shackles to be off as both will be trying to outdo the other.
