ATP Hamburg and Geneva betting previews: Better the devil you know as Sinner and Ruud backed
ATP Hamburg Open betting preview: Sinner back in the swing
Having been given a hero’s welcome on his return to action at the Italian Open last week, Jannik Sinner is back into the grind on the ATP Tour, heading up a very strong field in Hamburg.
A staple on the ATP Tour for well over 100 years, the Hamburg Open is now an ATP 500 event, which is reflected in the stellar line-up assembled here, with eight of the world’s top 20 players in action.

With an incredible winning alumni, including the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Rod Laver, the Hamburg Open still holds a real sense of gravitas on the tour.
The French Open at Roland Garros looms heavily on the horizon, with the action in Paris getting underway on 25 May and every player in the field will be looking to make their final tweaks before heading over to the French capital.
The favourites
Having Jannik Sinner in this draw feels significant, with the world number one sure to be desperate for more miles in the legs on clay ahead of Paris.
Backed by passionate home support in Rome at the Italian Open last week, he showed little signs of rust and was able to pick up some decent wins along the way.
With it being an ATP 500, Sinner should get some draw protection until the last eight at least and it could be the perfect type of tournament for him to find his groove once more.
All eyes will be on Sinner here as the man to beat and he is 6/4 to lift the Hamburg Open trophy with Mr.Play.
Andrey Rublev is always a presence in any draw, and he has the capacity to grind out some good results on the clay.

While he has found wins hard to come by in recent times, he has a decent record on the dirt, and he may be a touch overlooked in this one.
Having dropped out of the world’s top 10 in the past few weeks, he’ll be more than keen to find some form and he looks decent value to go all the way here in Hamburg at 17/2 with ZetBet.

Elsewhere, Lorenzo Musetti is flying on the ATP Tour, and he’ll be looking to back up strong runs in Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome here in Hamburg.
Operating from a career high in the world rankings of 9, Musetti is playing the tennis of his life and could be a good value pick to clinch the title here in Hamburg at 8/1 with BetMGM.
FIRST’s top tip for the ATP Hamburg Open
Sinner will have targeted this tournament as the ideal preparation for the French Open and he should be raring to go this week in Germany.

Extra tips
Minutes on court will be key for the whole draw here in Hamburg and one player who is looking to find form ahead of Roland Garros is Holger Rune.
The Dane has endured a stop/start 2025 but his quality on clay is undoubted.
Seeded 3, he looks to have plenty of protection in this draw and he is well worth a look 7/4 to reach the semi-finals with Vegasland.
Longer shots don’t have the best records here in Hamburg, but American duo Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe have been ticking along nicely on the clay this season.
Both men are seeded and could find themselves in contention for the title at 16/1 and 18/1 respectively with BetMGM.
ATP Geneva Open betting preview: A new dawn for Djokovic?
Following the shock news that Novak Djokovic has opted to end his coaching arrangement with Andy Murray, the Serbian superstar has chosen to take a wild card here in Geneva.
Form has eluded Djokovic for most of 2025, with strong runs to the semi-finals at the Australian Open and the final in Miami feeling like a lifetime ago.
Early exits in Monte Carlo, Madrid and Indian Wells have set tongues wagging around the Djokovic camp but writing off the 24-time Grand Slam champion is never wise.
He headlines a very strong field here in Geneva for this ATP 250 event and much like in Hamburg, the whole field will be desperate to click into gear ahead of the French Open next week.
The favourites
Having Novak Djokovic in the draw will feel like a coup for the tournament organisers but the Serb is there to do business, and he will be the man to catch in this draw.
Ascertaining where Djokovic’s game is at is currently not easy, with no wins on his record since his Miami Open semi-final triumph over Grigor Dimitrov back in March.
Clay has never been Djokovic’s best surface, and he is in the field here in Geneva to find a way back into the groove.

Regardless of form, Novak Djokovic is one of the men to beat in this field and he is a very interesting proposition at 7/2 to lift the trophy with Mr.Play.

Norwegian Casper Ruud however is trending in the opposite direction, having romped to the title in Madrid and enjoyed a solid follow-up week at the Italian Open in Rome.
He is a self-described clay court specialist, and he loves it here in Geneva, having lifted the trophy three times in the past four years.
As the in-form player in the draw, Ruud has plenty of expectation on his shoulders this week in Switzerland and he looks a good pick at 21/10 with Zetbet to clinch the Geneva Open title.
FIRST’s top tip for the ATP Geneva Open
Casper Ruud is loving life on the clay and he has a very good record here in Geneva, making him the man to beat.

Extra tips
American Taylor Fritz should top the seedings here in Geneva, but he is enduring a rotten run on the clay, and he simply can’t buy a win.
The world number four should find a way to get back into the swing of things here though and a run to the last four would represent a good week.
It won’t be easy for Fritz, but he could represent decent value to win his quarter of the draw at 2/1 with Vegasland.

Czech tennis is in a very strong place currently, with three players in the world’s top 30 and Tomas Machac is leading the pack.
Operating from a career high ranking of 20, he has been going along nicely all season and with a good draw here in Geneva, he has the capacity to go all the way and lift the title at 25/1 with BetMGM.
Odds correct at the time of writing.
