The Premier League returned with a bang in Belfast as Luke Humphries stormed to victory on the opening night of the competition.

Luke Littler and Michael van Gerwen produced the match of the night in the quarter-finals, with the Dutchman winning a last-leg decider.

Van Gerwen lost to Humphries in the last four, however, while Chris Dobey, reached a surprise final, although he was thrashed by the World Masters champion 6-1.

Dobey was the consistent underdog on night one and wasn’t even backed to make it past his opener with Price. This format makes each night so thrilling and with different narratives being written each week, makes the Premier League Darts perfect to bet on.

Up next is Glasgow for the eight competitors.

Quarter-final fixtures for night two in Glasgow

Rob Cross vs Luke Littler

Michael van Gerwen vs Stephen Bunting

Nathan Aspinall vs Gerwyn Price

Luke Humphries vs Chris Dobey

Key talking points: Can Luke Humphries continue his impressive form?

Littler might count himself unlucky, fighting back to take his match with ‘MvG’ to a decider before losing. Still, he finished the game with an average of 113.91.

The 18-year-old has lost just two of his 10 matches against Cross and will be looking to turn his heavy scoring into a victory over the 2018 world champion, who did look impressive in his win over Bunting.

Since the change of format in 2022, Van Gerwen has reached the final in Glasgow each time, losing twice but finally winning last year against Humphries. In Belfast, the Dutchman averaged over 100 across both matches. If he performs like this again, Bunting should be put to the sword.

Bunting’s poor display during his loss to Cross in Belfast was arguably the worst darts he has produced since the start of 2025. It doesn’t get much tougher than playing the three-time world champion in the quarters on night two.

Both Aspinall and Price lost their opening matches, although the Welshman put up more of a fight than ‘The Asp’. He scored six 180s during his defeat to Dobey and recorded a 124 checkout.

The Englishman will be hurting after his 6-2 loss to Humphries and this could see Price capitalise, securing his first points of the competition in the process.

During the 2024 Premier League, Humphries won four nights, including a three in a row. If he plays like how he did in Belfast, then ‘cool hand Luke’ can open up an early advantage.

Dobey brushed off his poor form that saw him lose in the first round of both the Dutch and World Masters to reach the final on night one.

His 6-4 win over Cross was particularly impressive, scoring four 180s while his stunning 170 checkout in the eighth leg pushed him to victory.

He perhaps ran out of steam in the final against Humphries, winning just one leg in a lop-sided match. This might just play on his mind in Glasgow.

Across his three matches, Humphries lost just eight legs, with five of those being conceded to Van Gerwen, showing how dominant he was during the other two matches.

FIRST’s top tip for Premier League Darts night two

Humphries gave Dobey little chance to get into any sort of rhythm during the final last week, winning the first five legs as he cruised to victory.

As such, siding with Humphries' -1.5 leg handicap to beat Dobey at 12/25 on BetMGM is our best bet of the week.

Extra tips

Michael van Gerwen to win night two – 13/2 (BetMGM)

The Dutchman ousted Littler in a dramatic quarter-final in Belfast, before narrowly losing to Humphries in the last four. If he plays like this, there is no reason why he can't win in Glasgow for the second year in a row.

Gerwyn Price over 3.5 180s – 11/8 (Betway)

Price scored six 180s in his quarter-final defeat to Dobey in night one and we at FIRST back him to hit over 3.5 against Aspinall.

Luke Littler to average over 102.5 – 11/10 (BetMGM)

Littler’s average of 113.91 against Van Gerwen on night one was the second-highest losing average in the history of the competition. Back him to average over 102.5 against Cross.
