Travelers Championship betting tips: Scheffler to go back-to-back at TPC River Highlands?
Travelers Championship: Things to consider
It seems like the season never sleeps with elevated events spread between the majors and the Travelers Championship will be the eighth and last of eight ‘signature events’.
It also seems like Scottie Scheffler is never out of the news as he defends once again this week at the Travelers Championship after ousting Tom Kim in a playoff last year.

This time around there is no cut in the restricted field event and it’s the second staging of the Travelers Championship from TPC River Highlands as a ‘signature event’.
The purse is a staggering $20m (£14.7m) with a winner’s check of $3.6m (£2.65m) along with 700 FedEx Cup points. That means all the stars of one of the best major championships I’ve witnessed in a long time at Oakmont will be making the road trip to Connecticut.
First round leader sparks some value and it was the man who led the day after day one at Oakmont JJ Spaun who ran out the winner in the end. As our man Sam Burns – who looked flawless through 54 holes – wilted under the pressure.
We have the current Aon Swing 5 consisting of Matti Schmid, Kevin Yu, Bud Cauley, Harry Hall, and MacKenzie Hughes all securing qualification for the Travelers Championship. The Aon Next 10 following the US Open also earned their starting berths in Cromwell.
The Aon Next 10 is currently led by Ben Griffin (50/1 Betway) and propped up by Michael Kim. JJ Spaun (50/1 (BetMGM) also secures his place in Cromwell, Connecticut.
Travelers Championship betting: Top of the market
The gap at the top of the golf markets seems to be getting bigger each week between Scottie Scheffler and the rest, which means there could be some value in betting on golf online.
This time around the defending Travelers Championship master comes in as low as 5/2 with Ladbrokes after what was a relatively modest effort in the US Open.
None of the other big names seem to be anywhere near Scheffler now and this is portrayed in the odds with 14/1 Rory McIlroy (BetMGM) and Xander Schauffele 14/1 (Coral) next best.
Collin Morikawa is flattering to deceive right now, and you can catch him at 14s with Spreadex. Ludvig Aberg, 22/1 with Spreadex, falls into the same category.
Typically, we see a low scoring affair at the Travelers Championship on a very risk-reward track with lots of water trouble. It was no different last year even after the tournament was elevated to ‘signature status’.
Greens with run offs that leave little chance of an up and down are a defence of the track. Overly aggressive pay does not pay off at TPC River Highlands, despite low scoring, and the rough can be juicy.
Despite Sam Burns falling at the last hurdle at Oakmont, pressure is a real thing. We have backed him the last two weeks and I’m sticking with him here.
Burns has a decent record at the Travelers Championship with a few top 25s thrown in. Burns leads the tour in ‘strokes gained putting’ and he ranks 2nd in ‘total birdies’, I’m not giving up on him yet as a win is coming.
Robert MacIntyre hung around all week at Oakmont and sneaked up into a solo second place finish in the end. He was striking the ball magnificently and the way the Scot can shape the ball both ways will stand him in good stead for TPC River Highlands.
MacIntyre has already won some big events including this home Scottish Open, and the RBC Canadian Open here, stateside. MacIntyre secured a top 20 finish on debut last season at the Travelers Championship. The Scot is 19th in the approach stats and 32nd in ‘total birdies’.
Keegan Bradley also has a very nice record at the Travelers Championship, and he is playing some of the best golf of his life.
For years, Keegan has been one of the best from tee to green on Tour. Bradley sits 19th in ‘total driving’, 32nd in proximity and 18th in approaches with the wedge which is a premium around TPC River Highlands.
Bradley won here two years ago and has also been runner up in the event. The Ryder Cup captain finished t7 at the PGA Championship and t8 at Memorial.
FIRST's top betting tip for the Travelers Championship
Robert MacIntyre gets my vote this week at FIRST’s top tip. The Scot is progressing into top form and is suited to the TPC River Highlands track.
Back him to win the tournament each way (six places) at 40/1 with Betway.
Pick: Robert MacIntyre - to win tournament (e/w six places) - 40/1 Betway

Travelers Championship extra tips
I also see value in persisting with Burns while Bradley also looks to have a bit of juice in his price. The each way market could be the shrewd move in the betting markets this week.
Back Burns at 33/1 (six places) with Betway and Bradley 40/1 (six places) each way with the same golf bookmaker.
Pick: Sam Burns - 33/1 (six places) Betway
Pick: Keegan Bradley - 40/1 (six places) Betway

Travelers Championship value bets
Harris English is a former winner of the Travelers Championship, and he says himself that he loves this type of track.
He has been touted a lot over the last few weeks so people are picking up on his good form that might not be being portrayed in his overall results.
Of course, Harris has won the Farmers Insurance Open this year, was t11 at the Truist Championship and he tied for second place at the PGA Championship.
Russell Henley has also been in flying form of late with three top 10 finishes in his last five events. This follows a win at Bay Hill a few months back in another ‘signature event’ field.
Henley is another man with a very strong course fit for TPC River Highlands with a lovely high ball flight into the greens along with a driving accuracy ranking of 17th.
Henley ranks 14th in ‘strokes gained approach’, fifth in ‘proximity to the hole’ and 23rd in ‘birdie average’.
I’m very interested in the German Matti Schmid this week. He had the game for the TPC River Highlands track and narrowly missed out to Ben Griffin at Colonial. This followed top 10s at Myrtle Beach and in Punta Cana.
Schmid had top amateur pedigree but has yet to reach the heights in the professional game.
I can see him taking advantage of some of the holes around TPC River Highlands with his effortless power and ball speed. Schmid ranks 12th in ‘birdie average’ and first in ‘approaches from 175-200 yards’.
FIRST’s top value tips for the Travelers Championship
Harris English is a former Travelers Championship winner and is rounding nicely into form. Back English to win the tournament at 60/1 each way (six places) with Spreadex.
I love Russell Henley’s course fit for TPC River Highlands and he’s moved up a level this year. Back Henley to win the tournament at 30/1 each way (eight places) with Ladbrokes.
Matti Schmid looks very overpriced this week on the back of a few top performances. The track should suit the German, and you can back Schmid each way (eight places) with Coral or Ladbrokes.
