Pontefract - 3.10 Charlotte's Web e/w (1/5 Betfred)
We have a belter of a contest on our hands here for this Listed event for the Fillies and Mares, and I give the each-way shout to CHARLOTTE'S WEB. The Simon & Ed Crisford representative gets to drop back to 1m for the first time in almost a year, and I think that could really be to her liking.
She has been progressive in all-weather handicaps over 10f and, last time out, was far from disgraced when beaten two lengths in a Group 3 at Newcastle. The jockey dropped the whip inside the closing stages, but after travelling well into the contest, I think she was starting to tire in the hard yards anyhow. Pontefract is a fairly stiff and undulating track, so 1m here could be perfect for her, especially if they go hard in the early stages.
Of the other protagonists, Sparks Fly is a class act, but you would want to see more rain for that charge, and Soprano is very happy at this level, but arrives on the back of a very lacklustre effort at Royal Ascot last time out, albeit at Group 2 level. Tom Marquand comes in for the ride on Charlotte's web, and this combination looks solid each-way players.

Lingfield - 5.00 Amestris (4/1 Ladbrokes)
This will be fast and furious, as the sprinters tackle this five-furlong dash. AMESTRIS has just the one career win to date, but that came over Course and Distance, so a return to this track is an obvious positive for this filly. In context, she is still relatively unexposed with just the nine starts to her name, so could easily have more to offer.
She took a step forward and showed she was coming back to form when runner-up at Haydock last time out, where she benefited from having had the run after a break and a wind operation, combined with the drop into a Class 4.
She showed much more of her old zest running off a career-low mark of 84, and gets to have a crack at another contest once again off that rating. Back at this track, and with a handy draw in stall two, she looks more than capable of making her presence felt here for the Michael Bell and Oisin Murphy combination.

Uttoxeter - 7.30 Kitesurfer (11/2 Coral)
KITESURFER is a really consistent sort for the Jamie Snowden outfit, and has every opportunity of getting back to winning ways with top pilot Gavin Sheehan in the saddle. The six-year-old is a winner of four races over Hurdles, and should be suited by the scenario of this encounter here.
He was beaten at Huntingdon two starts ago, where it wasn't for the first time he hadn't shown his best at that venue. And then last time out in a farcical three-runner affair he finished runner-up in a race which turned into a bit of sprint, and the way the race was run wouldn't have suited him.
This looks much more his bag and, crucially, with a dry forecast ahead, he should have lively underfoot conditions which will be to his liking. Kitesurfer should be capable of coming with his customary late run and can lay down a strong challenge at the business end of proceedings.
