SkyBet's 'RequestABet' on X is no more
By Lucy Wynne
After almost 10 years since it first launched, in 2015, the renowned RequestABet service from SkyBet is no longer available via X. Instead, customers will have to head to the Sky Bet website, where they will gain access to RequestABet’s and specials.
RequestABet allowed players to create their own bet which wasn't currently already available on the bookmaker, but this soon got overtaken by the Bet Builder model.
SkyBet announced the news on X, stating that the X inbox wouldn’t be monitored anymore and any messages would not be responded to.
As well as being outshined by the new Bet Builder feature. Another factor in its downfall could be that it was recently reported that Sky Bet's profit took a huge hit in the previous financial year, as operating expenses increased by almost £45m. The dip in profit was due to high inflation and increasing salary costs.
For customers hoping to reach the operator about anything to do with RequestABet, they will need to contact either @SkyBet or @SkyBetHelp on X, or head to SkyBet’s website.
Alun Bowden, SVP Strategic Insight at Eilers & Krejcik Gaming commented on the news via LinkedIn, voicing his take on the decision-making behind the business move: “The thing that started the whole bet builder boom is going to the great trading room in the sky. So long RAB, you will be missed in more ways than you realise.... Sky Bet is probably doing this for a bunch of reasons.”
Following on from his statement, Bowden expanded that, due to bet builders, the popularity of RequestABet has decreased; as well as the Paddy Power integration causing a hassle for Sky with the platform integration.
