To celebrate women in racing, Virgin Bet has announced its ‘Women’s Day’ event, which will be the second of its kind and will take place at the Virgin Bet November Handicap on 9 November, at Doncaster Racecourse.

Previously, the inaugural event was held at Ayr Racecourse in Scotland on 9 March 2024 and visitors got the opportunity to learn from and speak with the likes of Delly Innes (CEO of Scottish Racing), Harriet Graham (trainer), Charlotte Jones (jockey) and Emma Kay (CEO and founder of WalkSafe).

Presenter, Natalie Pike, will be leading the two panels which will be discussing women in racing, as well as allowing an opportunity for fans to connect with women from the sport. Panellists are yet to be announced.

Additionally, a percentage of sales will give a cut to Racing Welfare, a charity that supports those in the British racing industry.

Dominic Vye, marketing director at Virgin Bet commented: “Horse racing owes much of its success to the incredible women who contribute so much behind the scenes, and it’s time we celebrate their achievements.

“At Virgin Bet, as part of our ‘A Good Bet’ brand campaign, we want to make sport more accessible and highlight brilliance, no matter who the subject is, and this initiative is doing exactly that.”

Rachel Harwood , executive director at Doncaster Racecourse said: “We are proud to celebrate Women’s Day here at Doncaster Racecourse. This initiative shines a spotlight on the essential role women play in our sport. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to remind everyone that racing is for everyone, and we hope all racegoers feel that sense of inclusivity and belonging."
