Carabao Cup latest odds: Arsenal, Man City & Chelsea lead latest betting after fifth-round draw

The fourth round of the Carabao Cup games threw up a handful of surprises. The big shock came from Anfield as Liverpool were dumped out of the competition by Premier League rivals Crystal Palace. Reds boss Arne Slot named an inexperienced XI and it showed as the Eagles eased to a 3-0 win.

Premier League heavyweights Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle also booked their spot in the fifth round of the competition as we run through the best UK bookmakers’ updated favourites after the midweek clashes.

Arsenal

Arsenal wrote their name into the record books on Wednesday night as a 2-0 victory over Brighton, which meant they became the first English top-flight team in history to play all six games in a month, and win them all without conceding a single goal. The Gunners have now won their last eight in all competitions, and they look favourites to top the Premier League this season.

While they were handed a fairly tough fifth round draw - they’ll take on Crystal Palace on home turf in December - they’ve since been instilled as 9/4 favourites with Ladbrokes to win the Carabao Cup this season. It’s quite the rise from 7/1 after their third round win at Port Vale last month.

Manchester City

It took a well-struck Goncalo Franco opener to kick Manchester City into gear on Wednesday night. Swansea took an early lead but City’s strength in depth shone through as they claimed a 3-1 win in south Wales. Not only did they return to winning ways after their 1-0 loss at Aston Villa on Sunday but Omar Marmoush and Rayan Cherki both made goalscoring returns to the starting XI.

The availability of the pair is a huge boost for head coach Pep Guardiola, who was without striker Erling Haaland for the midweek clash - although he’ll be back for City’s next week clash with Dortmund. They’ll welcome Brentford to the Etihad Stadium in the fifth round next month, and the level of opponent combined with Liverpool’s exit has seen City shorten to 5/2 with BetVictor to secure domestic glory in early 2026.

Chelsea

Chelsea did their best to throw away a three-goal lead at Wolves on Wednesday night. The Blues shone in the first half at Molineux in midweek as goals from Andrey Santos, Tyrique George and Estevao saw Chelsea head in at the break 3-0 up. That they ultimately booked their fifth round spot with a 4-3 victory highlights their ongoing defensive shortcomings.

While Enzo Maresca did name an inexperienced side at the Premier League basement boys on Wednesday, that they limped over the line is a concern. Even so, they have shortened from 8/1 to 9/2 with William Hill to win a first EFL Cup since 2015. A trip to Cardiff in the next round of the competition has certainly contributed to that price.

Newcastle

Last season’s EFL Cup winners eased into the next round of the competition. Newcastle made light work of Tottenham at St. James’ Park on Wednesday night as goals from Fabian Schar and Nick Woltemade either side of half time saw the Magpies secure a 2-0 win.

While Eddie Howe’s side made a rocky start to the season, they’ve now won five of their last six and will face Fulham in the fifth round of the Carabao Cup following their midweek victory. Newcastle claimed a 2-1 win over the Whites earlier this month, and know what it takes to beat the west London side. They were 9/1 to defend their crown after the third round ties, though have since shortened to 11/2 with BetMGM.

Crystal Palace

After easing past Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday night, Crystal Palace were “gifted” a fifth round trip to league leaders Arsenal. Palace, though, shouldn’t fear the jaunt from south to north London in December. Yes, the Eagles fell to a 1-0 defeat at the Emirates earlier this month but Oliver Glasner’s side have proven they can beat the best the Premier League has to offer, evidenced by their FA Cup and Community Shield triumphs.

The Eagles were at 20/1 to lift the EFL Cup when the fourth round draw was made last month. At the time, a game at Liverpool was deemed a bridge too far for Palace. However, they are now in at 12/1 with Betfred to secure further success under Glasner even if Arsenal stand between Palace and a semi-final spot.
