Man Utd transfer news round-up: Mbeumo betting markets suspended

Ruben Amorim is set to oversee a significant squad shake-up at Old Trafford this summer, as Manchester United have reportedly placed “every player” for sale ahead of a pivotal transfer window.

While outgoings stand front and centre of fans’ minds, with many clamouring for a deadwood clear-out, there is an understanding among those at the helm that new signings are a necessity if the club is to improve next season.

So, what moves are the Red Devils most likely to make?

Bryan Mbuemo eager to join

Having scored 20 Premier League goals during 2025/26, Brentford’s star forward enters this summer’s transfer window at the forefront of many clubs’ wishlists.

And, if recent reporting is accurate, Mbeumo has paved the way for United to swoop. David Ornstein and Florian Plettenberg - of The Athletic and Sky Germany - have each detailed that the 25-year-old favours a switch to the red side of Manchester. In turn, bet365 and Ladbrokes suspended odds on the attacker’s next club.

Valued at around £50m, the Cameroon international will relinquish the chance to embark on European ventures with Spurs, Newcastle and Arsenal in order to join Amorim’s front line.

Kobbie Mainoo on the move?

Fledgling midfield maestro, Kobbie Mainoo, has won the hearts of Manchester United fans since making his debut in 2022/23.

Still just 20 years old, Mainoo represents much of what Old Trafford wants to see from players in the centre of the park - with unwavering drive, speed and box-to-box nous proving critical in his most impressive performances.

However, the youngster only played a bit-part role in United’s end-of-season Europa League charge. Bookmakers now anticipate a potential move away from the club – as shown by BetVictor’s 2/1 odds on a transfer to follow in the footsteps of Scott McTominay and depart for an Italian outfit.

Should a switch elsewhere materialise, Chelsea, at 2/1 with William Hill, are alleged to stand as Mainoo’s preferred destination.

Bruno Fernandes rejects Saudi proposal

At 30 years old, United’s captain could have jumped ship in exchange for a titanic payout. Yet, the Portuguese sensation looks set to stick with his current side for at least one more year.

Losing Fernandes may have forced the club’s owners to explore the transfer market – but the midfielder’s decision to stay means that the board can focus on other vital weaknesses. Most notably, it could open the door to a more earnest approach for Sporting Lisbon scorer-supreme, Viktor Gyokeres.

Multiple UK bookmakers envisage United as suitors for the Swedish striker. BetMGM (4/1), Ladbrokes (4/1) and Coral (7/2) all offer solid value for money, while bet365’s 9/2 odds listing is equally notable.
