By James Walters

Grosvenor, founded in 1970, is one of the well-known casino sites in the UK but they turned their attention to a sportsbook in 2016. They were one of the first operator to focus on sports but have they done a good job?

What are Grosvenor Sports all about?

Bonuses

Grosvenor’s welcome bonus is different to other bookmakers and it certainly catches the eye. They have a double the odds on your first bet offer. You must bet £10 but it can be on any sport and at any odds. If you fancy a horse to win at 25/1, you can get 50/1. If your bet wins, it’s paid out in cash and not in free bets, which some bookmakers try to catch you out with.

Bonus code info: Grosvenor does not require a promo code to be entered in order to secure the welcome offer for the double odds on your first bet.

Available sports

Grosvenor offer vast markets on all main sports and their football coverage is brilliant. They have every market you could want on games from match results and cards to player fouls and team shots. There’s also a ‘view all stats’ option on football matches which gives in-depth statistics to help you decide your bets.

Their horse racing coverage is also decent, with place markets available as well as distance bets, betting without and forecast/tricast bets - with additional offer for Cheltenham and other large annual events. Considering they’re a casino site that’s expanded into sports betting, the markets they offer are exceptional compared to other sites that have done similar.

Grosvenor offer markets on niche sports such as lacrosse and chess, while their in-play section is in-depth and accompanied by plenty of live statistics on the likes of football and tennis.

Their esports options are also as good as it gets for sportsbooks, with markets for Dota 2, League of Legends, Rainbow Six, Counter Strike 2 and Valorant all available.

They also have American sports covered. They offer lots of markets for American football and you can put selections into a bet builder too, which is a bonus for most bettors.

User experience and interface

The user experience when on Grosvenor is decent. Their site is slick, easy on the eye and their purple colour scheme is different to any other major bookmaker out there.

They have links to sports and casino games at the top of the site, with their carousel of boosted odds and offers just below.

Many casino sites have half committed to their sportsbooks but if you look at the Grosvenor site, you could be convinced that they were a sports betting company before a casino. They’ve really put time and effort into building a solid user experience.

They also have the added bonus of their Grosvenor blog, which offers insight into sporting events and betting tips from ambassadors such as ex-Premier League footballer Jamie O’Hara and horse racing trainer Harry Eustace. It’s a welcome addition to help bettors pick their bets.

Mobile and app compatibility

Grosvenor’s desktop and mobile sites are basically identical, including the login. The only real difference is the list of sports moving from the left of the screen on desktop to the bottom tab on mobile.

On mobile, the formatting is simple but it’s slick and is effective. There are tabs at the bottom to all sports, live betting, my bets and roulette. This is the same on their app, which is a sport-specific betting app. You can also access their casino games via the sports app.

Their app, which is available on iOS, Android and Google Play, is the same as their mobile site, however, it might be more effective than their mobile site. It’s quick and all of the graphics are crisp and eye-catching. The Grosvenor app has an average rating of 4.3/5 (4.1k reviews) on the Apple App Store and 2.1/5 (77 reviews) on the Google Play Store.

VIP programmes and loyalty rewards

Grosvenor does a lot right but they don’t have a rewards programme for customers, which is a slight negative for many bettors.

They do have other offers and games to keep you coming back. There’s an offer of money back as cash if your horse finishes second to the favourite in a specified race, while you can also get 20 per cent odds boosts on certain bet builders for NFL games (with a £20 maximum stake).

There’s also the Grosvenor ‘Scratch and Win’ game, which can see bettors win prizes for completing the scratchcard. Simply match three pictures and you can win boost tokens, exclusive enhancements and free bets.

Grosvenor’s responsible gambling measures are clear on their site. At the bottom of the page there are links to GamCare, GamStop, GambleAware and the Gambling Commission. There are also safer gambling tools including deposit limits, take a break, self exclusion and session reminders.
