England vs Spain tips and predictions: Will the Lionesses regain their Euros crown?
England state of play
England’s journey to the 2025 Women’s Euros final has certainly been an emotional rollercoaster for fans. The Lionesses secured their spot in the final on Tuesday in dramatic fashion with a 2-1 victory over Italy after extra time.
Substitute Michelle Agyemang scored a 96th minute equaliser before Chloe Kelly scored the winner in the 119th minute, a goal which was a rebound after a missed penalty.

It's not only against Italy that the holders looked to have been heading out, in the quarter-finals against Sweden they trailed 2-0 with 15 minutes left to play. Two quickfire goals from Lucy Bronze and Agyemang sent the game to extra time.
However, this time England couldn’t find a winner in the 30 minutes and had to settle for penalties. After trailing much of a remarkable shootout, England ended up winning 3-2 after a combined 14 penalties were taken.

Sarina Wiegman’s side have spoken a lot about playing like a ‘proper English’ team and that never-say-die attitude has helped her team reach their third major final in a row.
Others might acknowledge that the performances haven’t been there and England are somewhat fortunate to be in Basel’s final, but they’re still here and that’s all that matters now.
The Lionesses' dreams of winning the Euros for the second time in a row are still alive, and they will be hoping they’ve saved their best performance until last.
Spain state of play
The pre-tournament favourites are in superb form going into Sunday’s showpiece. Wednesday’s extra-time victory over Germany booked their place in their first ever Euro championships final.
It was also the first time they’ve not won in 90 minutes in this tournament. They’ve won 12 of their last 14 matches in all competitions, with the draw after 90 minutes against Germany and a February defeat to England being the outlier in that run.

However, they also managed to beat the Lionesses last month in the Nations League. Two goals from Claudia Pina secured a 2-1 victory in Barcelona. Of course, these two met in the World Cup final just two years ago.
An Olga Carmona goal in the 29th minute was enough to secure victory for the Spaniards in Australia.
Key talking point: Will Agyemang and Kelly start for England?
There’s no denying the impact that Agyemang and Kelly have both had on this tournament for England. Both have been integral in the Lionesses making the final but neither have started a game in the tournament so far.
Agyemang has scored twice in the tournament so far, despite only playing 92 minutes across the tournament. The Arsenal striker also almost scored in extra-time but saw a delightful chip cannon off the crossbar.
For Kelly, who will be playing for Champions League winners Arsenal next season, has been just as outstanding with her impact.

The winner on Tuesday followed up by making an assist against Sweden in the quarter-finals. She also scored the winner against Germany in 2021’s final.
Therefore, many fans and pundits are calling for the pair to be unleashed from the start in the final. Both are in-great form and it’s easy to see why Wiegman might be tempted to play them from the first whistle.
However, she’s probably likely to want to stick with Alessia Russo and Lauren James and keep those two aces up her sleeve. One thing is for certain is that it’s a nice problem to have for the England manager.

Four of the last six meetings between the two teams have seen less than 1.5 goals scored. There’s very little to separate the two countries and matches between them are often cagey. Throw in the fact that this is a final and it’s likely to be even tighter than usual.
Therefore, we expect less than 1.5 goals to be scored in the 90 minutes. A price of 13/5 is very appealing and if there is going to be a winner in normal time, it’s likely to be just by the odd goal.
Extra tips
Pick: England or draw in the 90 minutes 21/20 (Betway)
Spain are favourites to win the match at 3/4 but we think England are capable of avoiding defeat in the 90 minutes.
They’ve shown throughout this tournament that they never know when they’re beaten and have the big game players to save their best performances for a final.
Spain are definitely a step up in opposition but the Lionesses have nothing to fear, having beaten them four years ago on the road to European glory.
Pick: Michelle Agyemang to score anytime 15/4 (Betway)
As already mentioned, Agyemang is in great goalscoring form. It doesn’t matter whether she’ll start or come off the bench, she’ll threaten Spain’s goal.
We suspect she’ll be kept to her role of being an impact sub and that’s why we’re backing her at 15/4 to score anytime. She’s managed it in the last two matches so why can’t she do the same in the final?
Team news
The Lionesses seem to be going into the final with a fully-fit squad to choose from. On Tuesday, Jess Carter was replaced by Esme Morgan at centre-back in a tactical change that seemed to beef up the defence. Otherwise, there are no injuries for Wiegman to have to worry about.
Much like England, Spain seemed to be unscathed after Wednesday’s gruelling victory over Germany.
One player who might be pushing for a start is Salma Paralluelo. The Barcelona winger has 43 caps to her name at the age of just 21-years-old but had to settle for a spot on the bench on Wednesday.
