Germany Women vs Spain Women tips and predictions: Can DFB-Frauen upset the world champions?
Germany state of play
Germany have proven themselves to be a gritty, well-organised unit capable of stifling talent-rich opponents and making the most of the opportunities they carve out.
This was never more evident than in their quarter-final victory over France. Les Bleues possessed a wealth of dangerous attackers who, earlier in the competition, had shredded England in a match that stood as a statement of intent of their ambitions to land the European Championship crown.

But, despite being reduced to 10 players for much of the contest, Germany held firm, ground out a 1-1 draw and then eliminated France with an exceptional performance.
In the subsequent penalty shootout, with goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger – a two-time cancer survivor – emerging as the hero.
Another display of such will, determination and collective organisation could see Christian Wuck’s side through to a second successive Euros final.
Spain state of play
In a battle between the teams ranked second and third in the world, Spain – the reigning World Cup winners – enter with expectations of progressing to the final, but La Roja have not been at their glittering best at the tournament in Switzerland so far.
Montserrat Tome’s side have still dominated possession in each of their games, but they have looked unusually vulnerable on the counter so far at Euro 2025.
A weakness that was on show in what was ultimately a scrappy, hard-fought 2-0 victory over the host nation in the quarters.
Yet, despite their transition frailty, Spain are the only team to have won all of their games so far at the tournament and have scored a staggering 16 goals in their four matches so far. Even when not quite firing at the peak of their powers, Spain remain a fearsome force.
Key talking point: Will Germany stifle Spain?
Berger was outstanding between the sticks for Germany as they saw off France in the last round. Not only producing a nerveless showing in the shootout but making a string of memorable, match-saving stops in regular play.
The DFB-Frauen will need their dominant custodian to be in similarly sparkling form to fend off the Spanish attack in the semis and meet either England or surprise-package Italy in the Final.

In addition to possessing the most potent frontline on the continent, La Roja also have the hottest scorer at the tournament, with four-goal striker Esther Gonzalez leading the race for the Golden Boot.
But with the exception of a 4-1 defeat to Sweden in the final group game when their progress had already been booked. Germany have been resilient at the back, with just two goals conceded across their other three games.

Team news
Germany’s task is made more difficult by the absence of defender Sarai Linder, who sustained a ligament injury against France that has ended her tournament.
Captain Giulia Gwinn is also sidelined, while Kathrin Hendrich’s red card in the last round means the versatile defender has to sit out the semi.
Spain’s backline will also be depleted for the semi-final showdown. Laia Aleixandri is suspended after picking up a second yellow of the tournament in their quarter-final win over Switzerland.
