Ted's Treble: Three selects from Stratford

IMAGO: Ted's Treble today comes from Stratford
IMAGO: Ted's Treble today comes from Stratford

Ed Quigley has been in great form and selects his three best bets for what looks a quality card at Stratford on Thursday...

Stratford - 1.47 Wandering Ego

6/4 @ 10bet

Olly Murphy has his string in red-hot form at the moment, and this can go the way of WANDERING EGO. The five-year-old had some smart Bumper form to his name, but was all over the place where he looked green and in need of the experience.

He should have learnt a great deal from that and should tighten up physically as well after that effort. This looks like a good opportunity for him to show his true colours with the formidable Sean Bowen in the saddle.

Trip and ground should be fine, and this looks like a feasible opportunity to get the job done here for in-form connections. He probably will get further in time, but for now this looks like a perfect place to get back in the winner's enclosure.

Stratford - 2.17 Taurus Bay

13/8 @ William Hill

TAURUS BAY looks an exciting recruit to the Ben Pauling team and has to be feared in this Novices' Hurdle over 2m. The four-year-old was an expensive purchase after winning an Irish point-to-point in decisive fashion.

He has joined a powerful yard who know how to prepare them first time up, and this should be a nice race for him to find his feet and stamp his authority on this field. Ben Jones takes the ride on this youngster who will clearly make up into a smashing chaser in time.

This might not be the deepest of races, and so he can make his presence felt here by winning this before going on to tackle tougher assignments. I like his claims.

Ted's Talk: Ted meets Philip Hobbs and Johnson White who give him the lowdown on their talent

Stratford - 2.47 Grandeur D'Ame

10/3 @ Betfred

The Alan King team are in cracking form at the moment, operating at around a 36% strike-rate for the last fortnight, and the 9-year-old GRANDEUR D"AME looks to have a solid chance of toppling Be Aware.

The gelding ended last season on a bit of a whimper, but has a terrific record when fresh, so backing this horse first-time out for the season looks to be the time to catch him. He is versatile in regard to underfoot conditions and could easily get involved at the business end of proceedings, dropping down into a Class 3.

Tom Bellamy takes the ride, and I like the claims of this combination. Conversely, I wonder if Be Aware may just come on for the run like a few of Dan Skelton's horses have been, with the view of a long season ahead.
