Ascot - 2.05 Martator e/w
11/2 @ William Hill
MARTATOR won this race 12 months ago, and is likely to be primed to get the job done here for the Venetia Williams team. He won in good style off 134 in this corresponding assignment, and then bolted up over the same course and distance off 140 on his next start.
He lost his way throughout the spring, but returns to Ascot just 1lb higher than when last successful, and Ned Fox is on board, claiming 5lb. Martator is an individual from the Venetia Williams outfit who is happy on a sound surface, so underfoot conditions shouldn't be too dissimilar to what he usually excels on.
With a smart record when fresh, this looks like the time to catch the eight-year-old who could easily have offered this term. From an each-way point of view, it is hard not to see him at the business end of proceedings and a big performance should be in store.

Ted's Talk: Ed Quigley catches up with top trainer Joe Izzard to find out plans for his racing talent
Wetherby - 2.22 Potters Charm
9/4 @ Ladbrokes
POTTERS CHARM has had a wind operation and connections have decided to keep the six-year-old over smaller obstacles and head down the Staying Hurdle route this term.
The Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies trained individual showed some really smart form during his Novice campaign, and his only real below-par run was at the Cheltenham Festival, when he weakened out of the contest to finish fifth in the Turners.
Jockey, Sam Twiston-Davies said he felt that his mount felt 'flat' and that the effects of some hard races had taken their toll during the season. He will be fresh here, and provided he settles, his pedigree suggests that three miles will be no issue for him, and I think he looks more than capable of serving it up to Strong Leader.
I like the look of this unexposed sort who could be one to breathe life into a Staying division that is crying out for new stars.

Ted's Talk: Ted meets Philip Hobbs and Johnson White who give him the lowdown on their talent
Wetherby - 2.57 Ga Law e/w
18/1 @ Ladbrokes
I am looking for a bit of an upset in the feature race at Wetherby, and I don't think Ga Law is back number on these terms.
Jamie Snowden told me last week that he has got Ga Law fired up for his first start of the season, and with a few ageing stars in the line-up who possibly would want softer ground, I think he could run well at a big price.
Johnny Burke is reunited with him, and this combination are far from a forlorn hope here with an easy three miles playing to his strength on ground that should be spot-on for him. This should be a cracker, where you have to respect the protagonists, but everything looks in place for a big run.
