Ted's Treble: Three picks for the Haldon Gold Cup
Exeter's Haldon Gold Cup Gold day is here, and it is one to look forward to. Ed Quigley serves up his best three wagers on the card.
Exeter - 1.50 Quebecois
4/5 @ William Hill
QUEBECOIS has a touch of class, and can get off the mark at the first time of asking over fences. He won twice over Hurdles last season, and rounded off the season with a convincing win at Ayr in a warm handicap off a mark of 131.
He has had a wind operation since then and looks to have the scope to take his game to new levels over the larger obstacles. He looks just the type to blossom now, embarking on a chasing career, and this small field scenario will allow him to have a clear cut at his fences.
He won on his only previous start at the track, so we know that Exeter's configuration holds no fears. Harry Cobden will be in the saddle, and hopefully he can land this on his way to bigger prizes.

Exeter - 2.25 Kalif Du Berlais
11/8 @ Betfred
This is an absolute crackerjack of a race, where we have some class acts on display in what is often a quality contest in itself, but also a hugely informative race moving forward.
Last year's winner - JPR One - will be back for more and looks capable of a bold bid to defend his crown from a 4lb higher mark with ground to suit. However, if there is a horse in here with the potential to make up into a Champion Chase contender, then it's the Paul Nicholls-trained KALIF DU BERLAIS.
The five-year-old has the world at his feet and was impressive on more than one occasion last season, rounding off proceedings for the campaign by winning his first Grade 1 when scoring at Aintree. His only real disappointment came when finishing last of four at Sandown in bottomless ground over 2m4f, so you can put a line through that run.
Kalif Du Berlais looks just the type of horse who can make a name for himself in a wide-open two-mile Chasing division. Harry Cobden takes the ride, and this combination has leading claims.

Exeter - 4.10 Striking A Pose e/w
STRIKING A POSE is an enigmatic individual, but he seems to come alive at Exeter, and with his terrific record on his CV at the track. Four wins at the South-west venue tell you all you need to know, and trip and ground should be spot-on.
Off a BHA mark of 113, the nine-year-old can't be dismissed from an each-way point of view. This looks like a fairly wide-open encounter, and Joe Tizzard's horses have been running well at the moment.
Striking A Pose is more than capable of landing a blow here if he can put his best foot forward. Freddie Gingell takes the ride on the gelding, and this combination looks the value play.
