Ed 'Longshot Ted' Quigley is back with his three best bets for day three of Royal Ascot 2025, including one at attractive odds in the Queen's Vase.

Royal Ascot - 3.05 Pinhole e/w - 16/1 (Betfred)

A deep field here full of unexposed sorts, many of which can have plenty more to offer, now stepping up in distance to tackle this 1m6f trip for the first time. One who fits the bill and looks overpriced is the Ralph Beckett-trained PINHOLE, who has some top form in the book and seems to have been dismissed in the market ahead of this encounter.

The son of Frankel has won one of his three starts, and ran very well all things considered on his first start this year, when upped to 1m4f for the first time in the Chester Vase last month. He got tired late on to finish fourth.

However, the form of that race looks red-hot, as the winner (Lambourn) and second (Lazy Griff) then filled the one and two slots in the Epsom Derby. Thrice, who was behind Pinhole, has since gone on to score at Group 3 level.

The step up in distance should suit, and with greater demands on stamina here, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him take a step forward - he should be a lot straighter with that run under his belt.

Royal Ascot - 3.40 Fallen Angel - 3/1 (Coral)

This is a trappy encounter, but I am giving the nod to last year's Irish 1000 Guineas winner, FALLEN ANGEL to get back to winning ways here. The Karl Burke-trained filly is a class act on her day, as we saw when she scored at the top level last season, and has performed with plenty of credit since in top company.

She ran better than bare result suggests on her seasonal reappearance in the Lockinge, where she finished sixth, but was perfectly entitled to need that run after a 223-day hiatus. And she has taken a big step forward for her comeback effort on the previous two seasons.

The cheek pieces go on for the first time to sharpen her up, and that is what I am expecting here - a more tuned-up horse who will appreciate a strongly run mile on a stiff track. James Doyle is in the saddle on board the daughter of Too Darn Hot, and this combination could prove tough to beat in what looks like a cracker of a race.

Royal Ascot - 4.20 Anmaat - 7/2 (Betway)

I think ANMAAT can turn the form around with Los Angeles from their most recent meeting, where Aidan O'Brien's runner had race fitness on his side. Anmaat travelled strongly, until his challenge just flattened out inside the hard yards of the Tattersalls Gold Cup at The Curragh last time out.

That was his first run since landing the Champion Stakes over course and distance last October, so he was perfectly entitled to need the run that day, so should strip a lot fitter after that ring-rust removal job. This strong traveller could ideally do with a drop of rain, but that factor is probably overplayed, as he does have plenty of form on a quicker surface, and I think he can cruise into contention here.

He has the 'been there and done it' factor, and should fight well for the Jim Crowley and Owen Burrows combination.
