Royal Ascot - 2.30 Rosallion - 11/4 (Ladbrokes)
ROSALLION is a class act. And, my colleague Graham Clark agrees, as you can see in his Royal Ascot preview. The Richard Hannon representative boasts a record of two wins from two starts at Ascot, including when landing the St James' Palace last year. He was off the track since then, prior to finishing third in last month's Lockinge, which was a run full of promise.
He was a bit keen, but travelled powerfully for a long way, before tiring late on, which was understandable given the amount of time off the track he had had. That should have removed any ring-rust and have him stripped fit for this assignment, where he can put his best foot forward.
Quick ground suits, and he looks to have every chance of kicking off the meeting with a win to notch his third success at the Berkshire venue in the process. Sean Levey is in the saddle, and I think Rosallion can get proceedings off to a winning start on what looks like a big afternoon for the Richard Hannon team.

Royal Ascot - 4.20 Rashabar e/w - 25/1 (Betway)
In truth, Field Of Gold should be tough to beat, and I think he can get revenge on Ruling Court after their Newmarket clash. However, at a massive price, I think Bashabar can stay on late and pick up the pieces for the Brian Meehan team.
He was a bit short of room and didn't get the smoothest of passages when fourth behind Field Of Gold in the Irish 2000 Guineas last time out. He was racing just off the pace towards the inner, when squeezed for room just as the race got into top gear, and was forced to switch.
His only career victory to date was when causing an almighty upset when landing the Coventry Stakes at last year's meeting as an 80/1 poke. It is worth noting that he had Field Of Gold and Henri Matisse comfortably held when runner-up in last seasons Jean-Luc Lagardere, so the form is in the book that he can have the protagonists ruffled.
A return to this venue and quicker ground are both positives, and I don't think he will be a million miles away from getting involved from an each-way point of view.

Royal Ascot - 5.35 Haatem e/w - 13/2 (Coral)
Twelve months ago, HAATEM got the job done in landing the Jersey Stakes, and with that previous Royal Ascot winning form on his CV, he looks to have massive claims of landing another victory at the track in this listed event.
Yet to go beyond a mile in his career, the salient point here is the step up in trip, as the colt has looked as though he has lost a bit of his early zip of youth. He will be much happier with a greater test of stamina over 10f here. We saw evidence of that over 1m on Soft ground at Longchamp last time out, when hitting a flat spot before staying on the one-pace into fourth inside the closing stages.
Officially rated 113, he is one of the class acts in this line-up, and this Wathan representative has to be feared with a return to a quicker surface. James Doyle is in the saddle for the Richard Hannon team, and this combination looks the value play.
